A memory of light, robert jordans end to the wheel of time series
According to his blog (ran by his wife and child seeing as hes dead) an author named Brandon Sanderson will finish his last novel, I'm going to look up his books but has anyone read anything from this guy? It would seriously suck BALLS if the last book in that series gets handed to some nit wit author who cant do the damn series its due regards. Dec 14 07 was the posting date for the confirmation's that this guy will be the one to finish the series off.

I know the name but I've never read anything by him. I'll be checking it out, but I have serious doubts. It'd be pretty difficult to just step into a world that rich and detailed, and write.
Hope it's good, though!

WHAT?! Robert Jordan is dead?!!!
Just finished his 11th book Knife of Dreams on the wheel of time series last week and I've been reading his series since 1996-1997.
Tarmon Gaidon is coming!
Rest in Paradise R. Jordan!
And this new author better not f*ck it up.
Damn it all my favorite authors are dead. Robert Jordan and David Gemmell.

They're good. I didn't read Knife of Dreams, I wanted to wait and get a book behind. The last few books had so much going on with multiple story lines that none of them really progressed enough in one book. But, on the whole, the series is great. I read an interview with Jordan. He did two tours in Vietnam, so has a first-hand look at wars and battles. Even though the setting is certainly different (low fantasy vs. vietnam), the feeling and energy in his battles is the same.
Go grab The Wheel of Time, the first book, and give it a read. You won't be dissapointed.

Re: A memory of light, robert jordans end to the wheel of time series
Oh my God, the world as we know it has come to an end!
I have been following Jordan's work for several years now, and, while I knew that he had been battling cardiac amyloidosis, and I knew the end was near, I had hoped that he would finish the series prior to the Final Checkout.
As for, Brandon Sanderson, personally don't know much about him, all I can say is, he apparently has a following, and here is a link to his website.
Tor is pretty good at the decisions they make, just look at any of the millions of books they are responsible for.

Re: A memory of light, robert jordans end to the wheel of time series
Regarding book 12, there shouldn't be too much to worry about. RJ had the whole story planned out and he has mountains of notes. Add to that that his wife Harriet knows the whole Wheel of Time story beginning to end like the back of her hand and that she knows what RJ had planned and how he wanted it done. If that doesn't make you feel better then consider that Sanderson was hand picked by Harriet to complete A Memory of Light.
Its all in good hands. The only thing I'll miss is that RJ had planned to write 3 prequal/side books, but he only got around to doing New Spring. I can't help but wonder what he had planned for the other two books.

Yeah I wouldn't worry, Jordan knew this might happen (as he explained in previous blog posts), so he made sure that as much as possible was explained, written down, etc, before he passed.
I picked up one of Sanderson's book to try out his style, although I haven't found the time to read it yet
