Check this out and read the hints. Apparently, the final Cylon is not sitting at the table. Could it be Gaeta or Duala?

For a BSG noob, where would you start?

I heard there was some "old" BSG and that this "new" one is the good one, is it sort of like Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation?

Sort of, but more of a pronounced difference. TOS Star Trek was pretty good (at least in my eyes), or at least good enough that you can watch it without throwing up your intestines. The original BSG... can't say the same thing for it.

That should get you started but I highly recommend watching it from the beginning.

oh, wow! I had no idea it was originally done in the 70's.

I'll have to check OnDemand for old episodes.

    Re: Alright Battlestar Galactica Geeks!

I have the old as everyone is calling it(I say original)BSG on disc. I have the pilot movie and the whole series up until Apollo and Starbuck exit the show and there sons take their place. By the way in the original series Starbuck was not only Apollo's best friend but was a guy. I was from this era when the original came out and would have to say I like both versions. For it's time the original was a good show. You can't compare the two shows together because they where done at different times with different filming technology. Yes I know the old version seems hammy at times but it did have some good points. Like for instance they actually used not only laser weapons on the fighters but also the hand weapons were laser weapons. I mean what is with the modern version and using projectile weapons still. This is suppose to be an advanced human civilization who can create robots this realistic but still are using firearms for their hand weapons. At least the original got that part right. And as far as the last season goes, I'm not even gonna try to guess because I want to be suprised.

I believe it is probably because, quite frankly, projectile weapons sound cooler, and have a more realistic feel. For the actors they've got a realism because they fire blanks, and therefore have the feel of being real.

And like I said.. projectiles are just cooler... why else are we still using projectile weapons in 2142? Or Halo?

The origional show's cast was... eh. Apollo was alright, Starbuck was fucking retarded (not that the female variant is my favorite either), Boomer was cool, but I preffer the hot asian Cylon over the origional beefy black guy. And the new crew doesn't wear those rediculous capes.

There's some similarities to the two shows, but really they're pretty much 2 different shows with some of the same names in common... ..And Richard Hatch (The origional Apollo, who's now Tom Zarek on the new show).

    Re: Alright Battlestar Galactica Geeks!

I still haven't figured out the BF2142 with firearms part either. Are we that slow in technology? Some may say it gives the supply guy a purpose but they can still supply energy to the energy weapons also. And as for the actors part look at Star Wars(only one of the biggest movies ever made) they didn't have a problem with energy weapons. I will have to agree with you on the two Starbucks and of course the sexy cylons in the new series(but I would have to choose six myself over the other one). I think the whole cylon humans they missed in the first series but it sure makes the new one better. Like I said i like them both and when I watch them I take them in the context they where filmed in.
