Thread: Condemned

This game is fucking awesome and anyone who wants to be scared shitless should go and at least rent it immediately.

The first game Condemned came out for 360 and PC 2 years ago and it was the scariest game I've ever played. Here's a trailer

The sequel Condemend: Bloodshot just came out a month or two ago and its just as good.

The game is 1st person and focuses on melee combat. You fight these cracked out hobos with anything from fire axes, to concrete rebar. The action is so in your face! When you hit people there is just such satisfaction to seeing blood, spit and even teeth go flying! (Wow that sounds bad, but its really how I feel!)

There's also a mystery element where you use CSI equipment to solve puzzles. These are OK, but the main attraction here is the horror, gritiness, and sense of DREAD as you progress through the levels.

There are some sections where there is only 1 path to take but It takes me a few seconds to work up the nerve to actually move through because of the freaky imagery and awesome sound design. The environments are inherently creepy such as a school, a mannequin filled clothing store, and a doll factory.

I don't want to spoil too much, but anyone with a 360 should definitely check this game and its sequel out ASAP.

So they finally made a first person horror game.......that happened like 4 years ago when Doom3 came out. As far as I am concerned with the whole horror genre of video games nothing, and I mean nothing beats Resident Evil 1 and 2 and Silent Hill. Try playing those games in your basement with no lights on at midnight. No other games in the genre have shit against those. Anything else is just an imitation.

Not ignorance, its an opinion. My opinion is that nothing measures up to those games. Thats my opinion and Im sticking to it, Im sure that someone will back me up on this one.

An opinion formed without having played the game? I would say ignorant. Unless you forgot to mention that you have in fact played the game before in your prior posts.

Saying nothing will ever live up to those games is pessimistic, as games mature and evolve over time eventually there will be a game better than the original. Sure the first great horror games will go down in history, they have their place in the hall of fame. But just because they were first doesn't make them the best.

Again ignore this if you have in fact played the game.

I played the original game and needless to say I was not impressed. After the originals I have certain standards that need to be met for horror games, the original Condemned didn't do it for me which is why Im like "whoopty fucking whooo" because the original was not what I expected.

Doom3 was creepy, but I don't know if it was scary. It was like a horror house at a Halloween fair... little things (imps, always the fucking imps) pop out to spook you, but otherwise there wasn't too much atmosphere. As much as people bitched about it, the inability to use the flashlight at the same time as your guns was a good idea, in my opinion.

Ravenholme in Half-Life 2 did a damn good job of being pretty spooky, and some user-made mods did it even better - make sure to check out MINERVA: Metastasis. The hospital section in the beginning of the game is pretty creepy, plus it has some great music.

The original Silent Hill, the only one I've actually played, was pretty good. Wish I still had a PSX to play it on. The remake of the first Resident Evil for the GameCube was superb. People say F.E.A.R. was pretty damn spooky, but I never got around to playing it. Can't play BioShock, but hear it has its moments, too.
