I find aiming easier on the pc easier, you also get the advantage of being able to change the controls to whatever the hell you like. Another thing Which isn't really an advantage but can make it more fun is the console commands.
However, I do think that using an xbox is easier to get used to, and since you are a frequent xbox player you will probably have more friends to play with.
When it comes down to it, it's all about personal preference, some prefer pc, others Prefer xbox.

That was a REAL help, seriously.
Though, let me be 100% honest with you, that comment would have actually not been that bad if it didn't say "stupid question". I mean, it still wouldn't have been much of a help, but it wouldn't have made you come off as a dick either. I'm sorry if I don't know everything about every fucking console there is, but you'll have to cut me some slack on my stupidity.
And I never asked about the convenience of the consoles or anything like that. I asked two simple questions. Both questions were about how to adapt to controls. Sorry if reading well isn't your strong point, I'll be sure to make the words stick out after I'm done with this post.
Also, if asking a question about adapting to controls is stupid, then please tell me what an intelligent question is. That way I don't taint this site with any more of my useless posts...

PC has a good and bad side for Left 4 Dead.
The GOOD is alot of custom campaigns..and at the same time The BAD is all the modding and configuring.
I mean, you can change almost everything from aura glows, aim'r size, vocal commands etc.
Which can be either really fun or really annoying depending on what side of the fence you are on. Either you see this as more anjoyable or game breaking and pointless.
As far as aimming goes..
I wouldn't say thats its that much easier to aim as it is its much easier to configure you mouse/pc to aim better and make it easier. I mean, i can put a stick ball in the center of my aimr on XBOX and increase my aim by a HUGE amount.... But on PC you can change the aim'r into anything you want, change the lag between players, make auras flash..etc.
I personally hate playing with a mouse..But you can always use a controller on PC.
Try going to the L4D1/2 steam forums and reading though how and what the community thinks and acts like. Its almost like xbox..Sadly, sometimes even worse. And whats sucks is Valve actually takes some of these people serious..

Yeah you CAN use a controller on the PC but you then lose the primary reason to play on the PC. Control using the keyboard and mouse are FAR superior. It's the reason that when microsoft was trying to allow PC and XBox players to play online together that the PC players destroyed the console players every single time. The ability to fine control using a mouse and keyboard are THE reason to play on the PC. Other than that, the game is still the same. You can with good equipment get higher resolutions and higher framerates... but other than that, the only real difference is the controls.
I can't speak to how easy it will be to switch from a controller to mouse and keyboard, but I can say that once it clicks and you "get it"... it'll all be second nature.
And one thing I would add is USE THE DEFAULT WASD LAYOUT. Don't try switching things around. It will only confuse you if you move to other games later. WASD game layout is standard for every single FPS I've ever seen on the PC.

MS "killed" PC/Xbox cross-platform play News • News • Eurogamer.net
there's no question it's easier to aim with a mouse/keyboard then it is with a controller. Give it a week, find the right sensitivity for you, and you will hate your xbox controller.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Well, for me, even though I'm fully used to PC controls now, I still prefer Xbox controls. Part of this is obviously habit, but another part of this is me being a pretty frantic player. In pressured situations I have a habit of...flailing...and panicking... a little. Because of this, using a mouse is more difficult, because moving my arms causes my aim to go with a mouse, but because I just use my thumbs of joysticks, it doesn't effect me there. It's just a personal thing, but that's what this is, a personal issue. You could be fine.
