Re: Speed racer
Everything those guys puts out is awesome (i'm just going to act like Matrix Revolutions never happened). I really want to see it, but I don't feel like going to the movies by myself (no friends want to see it). Going off the previews, looks like they're trying to pull of a Grindhouse-esque over the top, funny, yet well-made movie.

The sad thing is...
this is one of those type movies that you either have to see in theaters or not see it at all.
I imagine seeing this at home on your average television doesn't do it justice......then again, on a big ass HD television with bad ass surround sound, it might be just as good as theater.

Re: Speed racer
I saw a preview for this movie when I went to go see Iron Man. Honestly it didn't look all that great to me, but with some of the positive posts above, I'll probably try to see it when it comes out on DVD. It didn't look "theater worthy" enough to me for my $6.50.

Re: Speed racer
I was like most on here. I thought from the preview that it might be cheesy and from reviews that the story might be pretty weak. I was pleasantly surprised. It was better than I thought and the story was good for the setting. My son loved it and my wife even liked it.
It looks like it bombed at the box office though. It only took in 20,210,000 which barely put it in second place above What Happens in Vegas which made 20,000,000. They were both hammered by the awesomeness of Iron Man which made another 50 million to bring it to 177 million total.
