I have even tried going to thier site this moring to troubleshoot and it's not working on my end. Maybe they are having issues :3

I poked around the steam website. It looks like there are some network problems. Looking at the server stat graph which is showing negative users online, it's also possible the steam server is down. I had to click on the "help and tips" forum several times to get it to load.

Thats not restarting. You have to right click the steam logo at the bottom right of your screen and click exit or do it from the steam program

also check the task manager processes tab for a steam.exe and try to end it.

Has anyone been having problems with the L4D servers in the last few days? I play on the Xbox360 and I'm having extreme lag and lots of crashes and I was wondering if others are seeing the same thing. I've checked my broadband speed and ping using Speedtest and I'm getting really good numbers, so I'm not sure what the problem could be.

There are little-to-no dedicated servers right now. I've only run into two over the past few days(I'm in East US). Most go to local server so your connection makes hardly any difference on how good your connection in-game is. Most of the games I'm in have terrible connections, we lose connection when the host quits out halfway through map 1, we get "retrying connection to server" a few times a map, etc.

If Cold Stream gets released then the servers should come back and be improved. But that could mean anything in VALVe language.

Chances are they could be shutting down Xbox Left 4 Dead 1 servers because Left 4 Dead 1 and is now implemented into L4D2.

I honestly dont think they will ever be the same. But even with the old maps on 2 and more shit, I just like vanilla L4D1 better. I cannot put my finger on it, but there is a difference between the two that makes me keep coming back to 1. Maybe I hate the new SI. Maybe I prefer the pump shotguns in L4D1. Maybe I like and know the L4D 1 community more. Maybe the hitboxes are different in 2 than 1, I dont know, all I know is, there is something that keeps me glued to L4D but I just cannot for the life of me, figure out the main source why.

L4D1 is home to me. Its like moving from a house that has been your home for years and feel cozy in and you are promised to move into a bigger house with more space. All thats good in all, but you still consider your old house your home. Left 4 Dead 2 is a house. Left 4 Dead 1 is home to me. And trust me, there is a difference between the two.
