I am stating that pay for play has already shown its face around here in the form of gamerail and I loved it, as did many others. It game me the option of improving my performance ...... IF I was willing to pay for it.

Does the concept of a reserve slot come into play here? The likihood of people across the internet connecting to the TTP BF2 server is severely reduced if they dont PURCHASE a reserve slot. Should we vote to eliminate the slots? For fairness sake?

I know I am being a pontificating ass here.

Comcast currently routes my traffic from northern Va, out to the chesapeak bay, back to another location closer to my house, up to Philly, then NJ, then NY. Only then does it hit a high performance backbone destined for Texas. My connection to the TTP server sucks as a result. If I could pay for a better route, it would be worth it to me. Good things come to those who work hard, earn money, and buy them. Evil ... I know.

Am I being too short sighted here ? I of course can forsee the ISPs bastardizing the issue and blocking content. I remember AOL had certain limitations in place and attempted to establish themselves as a portal to the internet. Remember AOL? They are the subject of VH1's "Where are they now" specials coming up.
I still disagree. Are there any other ISPs available to you? This is just the ISPs screwing over the American consumer. Costing us even more money in this already crappy economy. And there are plenty of people who work hard and don't earn enough money to live the way they deserve.

Well that is gay, but even if this did happen people will find backdoors around this garbage.

It should said that I am not militant on my stance here. I happen to have more than one isp available (fios is coming). I know you get put into a box if you don't have one.

I just forsee backlash and backdoors (In the form of proxy traffic).

Devils advocating is the function of my response.

Changing gears, it was posted that obama supports net neutrality. What if any steps has he taken to protect it?

Does he really support it through action, or just the power to the people feel of the stance.

He made the comment "When i'm president i plan to enforce net neutrality".

However Macain says that the government shouldn't get involved.

All of these are on youtube, i just don't feel like finding them.

Wow, Internet run the same way that my cable service is run..... No thanks..... If this ever happens, think of the outcome...... People will be outraged.
I for one am not gonna stand around and wait for this to happen. Cable T.V. sucks as it is, I rarely watch it, yet spend 70+ $ a month on it. Think about how this would effect online gaming, the TTP community, your Buddy's website. I'm so fucking sick of being told what to watch, what to wear, whats the truth, even what to think. Screw it, I'm now $78.92 dollars richer a month. Canceled my subscription to comcast cable T.V.

The future is what we have right here. A fucking forum with a bunch of people from all over the world..... That made a decision to come here, made the decision to belong, and made a decision on what to think, feel, say, and do.

Cable T.V's time has ended. Corporations are feeling the sting... So they decide to go after our freedom, the Internet. Not, on my watch... The games have just begun.

Thanks Steve, for lighting a fire.

Interesting Clint. What if there was no TTP to begin with? No reserve slots to "donate" for... Your question is minuscule, but valid. No system is perfect, every thing has its flaws. It is the big issues that need dealing with. You cannot lead by example if there was no example to follow. Let's just make sure TTP doesn't go anywhere. I'm sure everyone can agree with that.

    Thats nice.

Seeing as how he has been involved in the legislative branch of govt already, one would expect that he would have already made headway on penning a bill, to become law, to be enforced.

I dont think it is minuscule at all. Apply to logic of fairness to BF2. If you want things to be 'fair' then you should have no problem with giving up your reserve slot in the name of fairness, to ensure that everyone has the same chance of connecting. And if you dont fund it through your money, someone else will ..... right?

How is the underlying backbone of the internet (which is under greater and greater strain as technology evolves and the need for massive amounts of bandwidth grows) any different?

I obviously dont advocate dropping your reserve slot, but I am asking you to think about it and apply it to something that you know.
