Where is the OUTRAGE?
Regardless of political affiliation.
This hits home.
Good Questions:
Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?
Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago ?
When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines ?
Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?
Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a "vanilla" Iowa , because that's the way God wants it?
Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?
Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?
How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?
Where are the debit cards for Iowans?
WELL?

Re: Where is the OUTRAGE?
This is gonna sound really mean..... BECAUSE I's IOWA!!!!!! Quite possibly the most useless state of them all. Cows, corn, and beans.... Where there s corn, their will be children that lurk in it... I think the Government/media is doing the right thing by not paying any attention. Now I don't have to worry about the psychopath corn lurkers traveling north to Minneapolis. Or maybe I should be more worried? Slipknot was the only good thing that came out of the state, and even they are considered a bit "taboo". j/k j/k. But, in all seriousness.. Great questions. Though I would like to add a few things to your list of questions. ehhheeem.
Why do geese fly "upside down" over Iowa?
What does IOWA stand for?
Let me know when you want the answers to my questions... Those are the only one's I can answer, sorry I couldn't be more help to your very important questions.

IOWA plays a much bigger role in American sustanace than New Orleans ever did.
I hadn't put this level of concise thought into this situation, but it is an excellent post ballsyone.
They don't seem to be sitting around waiting for the govt to show up and 'fix it' for them do they?
My kind of People. Think for yourself.

Re: Where is the OUTRAGE?
i know more people were affected besides Cedar Rapids and New Orleans, but here are some facts I pulled up. I feel bad for everyone who is affected by both events and think they are really two different things and should not really be compared.
If they are to be compared here are some numbers that show why a little more attention might be given to New Orleans.
Katrina death toll = between 1500-4000 depending on what source you read.
Iowa death toll = 5 (that I could find)
New Orleans population = 469,032
Cedar Rapids = 122,542
New Orleans average income = $27,133
Cedar Rapids average income = $43,704
New Orleans Persons below poverty = 27.9%
Cedar Rapids Persons below poverty= 7.5%

Re: Where is the OUTRAGE?
New Orleans also had 3-4 days warning.Their Mayer left busses sit empty, while blaming the feds for not doing enough to help.Their Governer didn't sign the necissary paperwork to allow doctors from other states to come in and help for several days, while blaming the feds for not doing enough. The feds had givin New Orleans money to improve the levees, only to have it pissed away by the local government, yet the feds still get the blame. The residents who didnt lift a finger to help themselves, took short breaks from luteing to shoot at the cops, firefighters,Sean Penn and rescue helecopters, and blame the feds for not doing enough.
Its true,Iowa sucks(thats why the Mississippi flows south),and they only have 1/4 of the people that New Orleans has,but you dont even hear 1/4 of the bitching and blaming that we all heard in New Orleans. The people there rely on themselves, not someone else to get any job done.Sure they will ask for help, but they will not blame the government for their problems. They will not be luting their neighbors. They will not be shooting at the cops, firefighters, and rescue helicopters.

Kind of the exact opposite of the "who's going to pay for my new t.v.?" and "look at the wal-mart shopping-spree FEMA bought me!" b.s. we heard post-Katrina. (Not saying that represented the majority of victims, but it certainly got reported enough to set a perception, at least for me and my acquaintances...)
