I hate a state tournament for theater in El Paso when I was in High School. Why they made everyone go to the very corner of west Texas is beyond me. The 13 hour charter bus ride was NOT fun at all. At least we didn't have to take a 'yellow dog'.

One of the girls from another school walked across the border and got shit-faced. She ended up coming back to our hotel room and giving us all a strip-tease drunk off her ass. It was more comical than anything.

check out the Old Mesilla Square in Las Cruces...theres a mexican restaurant there that is ASTOUNDING...and has been around since the 1800's...


also, it's more fun WITH people, but still a decent sight alone, the White Sands National Monument...
or if you're a military buff, check out the Missile Field at the White Sands Missile Range....WSMR (pronounced Wiss-merr) is the home of nearly every rocket test the US has ever done....and was the home of the Trinity Site...but they only open that up twice a year.
