How much longer does the Imperial System have?
Ok for those of you who dont know, the Imperial system is the system we use to measure things I.E: Feet, Yards, Gallons, Quarts, etc.... We are one of two countries in the world who uses this.
Now at the same time it seems like we are slowly movign to the metric system(Hell look on the back of a food item, Thats right Grams and Milligrams). I.E Meters, Liters, Grams. The Metric system is truly superior, because its simpler.
So, how long do you think the Imperial system has left before we go to Metric?

America's system is the definition of:

But seriously, i really fucking hope that it happens soon. Metric, you can teach the kids in like 3 days. Teach em the endings (gram, liter, ect.) and KHDBDCM, you win.

now that I live in a country that uses the metric system, I am totally down with it.
It is so easy compared to the customary system that the U.S. uses. The USA should switch to it ASAP.Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

I use the metric system every day at work.
But really is it hard to use the imperial system? No. So what' the point? Just because everyone else uses it doesn't mean we have to. Sure it would make it easier. But really there is no point.

Re: How much longer does the Imperial System have?
I'm an electrical engineer and I find myself using the imperial system every day. All of the mechanical drawings that hit my desk are in inches, however, if things get small enough you start talking about mils (1 mil = 0.001 inch). So it really just boils down to the base unit of measure. Do I want to measure distance in miles or kilometers? They are just a matter of preference that help someone get a feel for the measurement being talked about. I personally can imagine a road 2 miles long better than x.xx kilometers. But I've been thinking about Imperial units since I was young, so I feel more comfortable with them. Someone in Europe would be more comfortable in the metric system. One system is no better than the other, we should just adopt the standard the rest of the world uses.
