Re: Motorcycle question.
I'm gonna drop it into the shop and pay for more diagnostics. Buddy of mine things it might be a bad ground, but everything looks in order on the bike. The guy who did the initial testing said everything tested fine, so... I really don't know. All I know is that when the bike was running and revved up to 5k, I was only getting 12.4v at the posts. Should be over 13.
Weak shit. Don't have tons to dump, trying to buy a house.

it's weird though that you have a 07 model, and you are having problems with charging.... did you wreck the bike?

Re: Motorcycle question.
Bike went down once, but nothing spectacular. Stator cover got cracked but was replaced. Had the electrical tested (stator, battery, etc) and was told it all pointed to the rectifier. Connections look fine. Don't see anything loose or disconnected.
I'm starting to lean towards a damaged wire/connector. It's about the only non-visible thing (or rather, potentially hard to spot). The guy who tested it for me before is cheap, and I have another offer of help from someone currently at MMI who said he'll do it on the cheap, and possibly take it to an instructor if he can't figure it out.
And believe me, I know I'm being setup for rape here. Taking it to the dealer is my last option, but one I might have to take.

Re: Motorcycle question.
ok..you said the stator cover was replaced...did someone actually inspect the stator to see if it was actually damaged? With just an electrical test it could come up clean if it's passing voltage tests. If your stator is bad then that can f up the rectifier/regulator or give a false read. Now i'm no expert on bikes...but i do most of the work on mine.
Electrical stuff is HARD to spot unless it's blatently obvious...or easily caught with a meter. Good luck
