    Your desktop go poof

so i had the fun of coming home from a trip and go to turn on the computer and dead, nothing running, turn it on....nothing. So figured it was the PSU, hooked another up to just the mobo and it booted up. So we get a new PSU, hook it up and it starts for a second and dies, and inside of the case smells like smoke. everything was hooked up correctly so no clue what happened at all it just like died. No signs that the power went out or anything just one day it worked fine, the next it was dead grrrrr

That smell of smoke could be the PSU starting up for the first time.

Did you add any new parts to it at all, besides the new PSU?
Or does the PSU supply enough energy?
