I worked for two places that brewed there own small batch root beer. the Steel Head in Eugene Oregon, and the New Old Lompoc in Portland Oregon. Both made fantastic brews but the Head's was bar none the best root beer ever!

Both companies still make it yes.

But like I said, the Head's is delicious...and consistent. The Lompoc's changed weekly.

I am sad for all of you beer lovers that do not get to live here in Germany

Seriously, it is not an exaggeration or a stereotype. This stuff really is better.

There's a small outfit in Michigan that makes a lovely one with a hint of vanilla. If only I could remember the name. The board of trustees at the camp I attended for a while got my CT class about 20 gallons of the stuff for our graduation party since we were one of the most impressive classes that had ever passed through. It was the best root beer I've ever had.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

There are some nice places for liquor around where I'm at college but not beer, which makes sense since I'm in a college town.
Go to www.ratebeer.com or www.beeradvocate.com and get on their forums. Ask for good places to buy beers in your city. I guarantee there are a ton you don't know of, especially in a big city like Dallas. I found a bunch of little stores with huge selections in Orlando that I was unaware of, when I was living there. I haven't checked in Houston yet, since we have Spec's, and I drink liquor more than beer these days. Let me know what you find out.
Thanks, this should be very interesting. My friends and I have actually resorted to brewing our own beer to get some good quality stuff (so far it tastes amazing; we did a very nice amber ale). One of the grad students I know just gave one of my friends a 6 pack of assorted beers for his birthday. It included an Indian IPA, an Arrogant Bastard, and a Holy Grail Ale among other things (the holy grail more for novelty). We've been trying to find some very good beers, and it's been difficult so far.
