Thread: Phelps did it again

Gold medal #7.

Beat the Serbian dude (Cavich, I think?) by literally one hundredth of a second - 0.01 seconds.

Serbians obviously appealed the decision, and it was routinely denied.

Swear to god Phelps is fucking unreal.

Well one reason is the chinese pool is A LOT different than what most olympic swimming events are held in. There are swimmers breaking records left and right in that pool!


As a triathlete I do a lot of swimming, and the pool you are in can make a huge difference. They have open lanes to the outsides, a gutter, and the water is 9' deep. This means that when you swim across it one direction and turn around, the water is not flowing against you as hard and the resistance is reduced.

Although, since they are all swimming in it...ceteris parabus...all things being equal, he is kicking ASS!

I am eager to see how the decathalon goes... that is a pretty serious test of all around athleticism.

No, it WAS being contested. They had already decided against the Serbians when they handed Phelps the medal. I guess they could bitch about it again, but that's not going to accomplish anything other than make them look like sore losers.

Yeah, I heard that during one of the interviews they were doing with him. I'm a fairly big guy, 6'3" and 220 pounds, but I doubt I could eat half of what that guy eats in a single sitting.

But, then, I'm just a lowly HVAC newbie, and I'm willing to bet that it's a lot less strenuous than swimming as much as he does and at that level :P
