Obama + Biden?

According to CNN just a few minutes ago, Obama has offered Joe Biden the VP spot on his ticket.

At risk of starting a nasty political debate, what are your thoughts? Think it helps him or hurts him?

Personally, I like Biden, he does not hold back. That is he calls as he sees it; much to the chagrin of those politicians who are careful to be as broad (and often vague) as possible in the their inclusion of possible voters.

I think Biden is a bad choice for VP however because he is so far left that those on the fence may fall over to the other side.

Joe Biden has said some of the most RIDICULOUS things on camera - he's a liability and I am SHOCKED taht Obama picked him.

Well, this isn't an official statement from the Obama campaign by any means. CNN apparently has "democrat sources" who leaked the information on the condition that they retain their anonymity.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is simply a fishing expedition on the part of the Obama campaign to see how their voter base would respond, because you know if some drunk ranch manager in Texas managed to catch it on CNN (which I never watch unless I'm flipping channels) and forward it to a forums, the rest of the internets are doing the same, ten or twenty fold.

Don't be surprised if he ends up naming someone else as his VP tomorrow morning, which is when the "official" statement is supposed to be released.

It helps him. White guy and Black guy thats almost all the votes right there. Now McCain just needs a Black woman VP.

Honestly, I don't think that's going to matter too much when you consider that Obama was ranked as the most liberal US Senator of 2007 by the National Journal in their annual vote ratings.

I dunno about that, I saw interviews with voters during exit polling from the primaries, and there were people who were trying to decide between Obama and Romney. I think those two candidates are dramatically different and that some voters are completely uninformed. I just can't imagine a Romney supporter having ANY interest in Obama, or vice versa, yet they are out there.

Biden is much less careful when he gets onto politically hot topics, such as his statement about gun control in that CNN/internet debate during the primaries. I don't think Obama would ever choose such words despite having a similar position.That is why Biden was out very early and Obama finished...

Personally I think Hillary would be a better choice.
