    Re: The war in Iraq...again

Finally I found something that y'all will be shocked. The U.N did not want war but the USA and U.K wanted. The U.N only supplied the food for the refuges no duh.The USA and U.K might feel lonely when there they only one going to war with Iraq. This from a book that I looked at.I might be a little bit wrong or the book is wrong.

I just have one point of dispute in your statement (or at least one I feel compelled to address), then I'll likely ignore this thread, as I tend to do on just about every political thread.

The difference being the nation (nations, UK has been with us all the way.. and Israel, cuz they're our slightly unstable little brother) that is doing the telling is more than likely going to treat said capability of obliteration with the respect that ability warrants. The people they're telling they can't have such capability are the types of govornments who've no compunctions against strapping a bomb to their wife and putting her on a bus. Or stealing a plane and crashing it into a sky scraper... and the govornments who support such people.

...and normally we as a planet are ok with them, so long as their killing their own people.. saves us the trouble. But they crossed the line and came across the lake... and that was their mistake.

And in the words of brothers everywhere, "he started it." If we want to talk about disregarding the UN isn't that why we were there in the first place?

personally, I say fuck the U.N.

If we want a high government, we'll vote to support putting a world-wide government in place....the UN is basically like the Articles of Confederation as far as powers go...

It IS nice to have somewhere for the world's countries to DISCUSS big issues...but the U.N. should not have ANY authority to tell others what to do.

Hmmm. That sounds like a great idea! Let's call it the League of Nations. Oh wait, been there, done that.

when we give the U.N. power to tell us what to do, we are saying we recognize a power greater to us than our own constitution...

where would the U.N. power's line be drawn? environmental and business regulation? gun limitations? or when it outright goes against the constitution and bill of rights?
