    Re: Governor Sarah Palin's Speech

Here's some info on Bill Ayers.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers

I mean, it seems TOTALLY normal for a President to keep guys like this as pals...

While we're at it, have you ever researched Tony Rezco?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Rezko

    Interesting stuff.

That 1-liner about "Chicago Machine Politics" in Rudy's speech is making some sense.

You voted for Bush I'm assuming, so you supported a liar in the whitehouse. You are supporting McCain for the whitehouse, so you support a pushover to be president? Can you not remember just a few years ago when John McCain stood for something? When he was a maverik? Now the radical right has beaten him into their mold. He spouts nonsense like Bush and gives Karl Rove's speaches.

So why can't we support a liar when you support a liar? Why can't we support a pair of extremely intelligent men when you support a Man and Woman who have lost their grip on reality?

By the way, the definition of Politician is liar, if you didnt know already. So calling one a liar is kind of like calling grass green, we get it.

Yeah, might have been inappropriate to use the song in a public event but give me a freaking break. People use songs like this all the time when at school events or small functions. It does not mean that it is right, but it seems a bit, oh, I don't know, stupid to whine about it.

I am surprised that they don't have someone applying for the permission to use these songs. Even my church does that.
I used to think the same way and would have written the same reply in my younger days.

Here is some of what I have learned since. First, copyright is one of the bodies of law that was anticipated by the Founders. It serves as valuable of a function to our nation as say, the Second Amendment. Like the Second Amendment, Copyright is also grounded in the Constitution. Article 1, Clause 8, Paragraph 8 of The Constitution says that Congress shall have power:

The Framers added that clause because writings (and music) are useful and contribute to the continuing learning of the nation.

Secondly, I have learned that using music to promote a product can be valuable. You guys know that. How many silent YouTube videos hold your attention? How valuable is a single song played at a single convention to promote the McCain/Palin brand to get donations? I have an idea and its more than boo-hoo-hoo cry me a river. How can I back that up? By using facts. ZZ Top, which is hardly a bunch of whiners, sued Chrysler Corp. for using one of ZZ Tops songs at the 1999 North American Auto Show. I can't tell you what the case settled for because it's sealed. But ZZ Top wouldn't have sued for pennies. Let's just leave it at that.

    Here is a ]http://cip.law.ucla.edu/cases/case_zztopchryslercorp.html[/url]

Third, the nation runs best when the Government respects all of its citizens rights, not just the rights it agrees with. Copyright is a property right and the government, or candidates for govenment, shouldn't go around violating citizens rights by stealing their stuff.

Can you agree with that? Or would you rather that I learn from you and say boo-hoo-hoo cry me river when when of your cherished rights gets eroded?

I thought her speech was pathetic. The crowd cheering at every chance was sickness inducing as well. I think the republicans are taking this country down the wrong path and the 9/11 tribute fearmongering was absolutely disgusting. Let the dead rest in peace for god's sake.

Interesting. That happened during a period when I didn't give a shit about politics. Thanks for helping to fill in the blank.

The primary difference is that Biden got called out for plagiarism, not copyright violation. There is a huge difference. Whether the difference matters to voters is up to them.

Based on that article it appears that Biden wasn't a good story teller in his younger years. He needed to add a little pizzazz to his speeches (hey! I finally spelled speeches right you little speller Nazis! ) Instead of coming up with his own style of style of storytelling, Biden found somebody that he identified with and adopted that guys style and story as his own. Icky? Yes. Just as icky as people around here that try to emulate ...bigdog... But did Biden commit a copyright violation? No.

In any event Biden is older now and probably has enough confidence in himself to be telling his own story his own way. Similarly, I doubt that many of the kids around here will still be trying to emulate ...bigdog... years from now. They will have found their own legs by then.

hehhehe. When I get stupid now it's usually on Friday nights and always because of beer. If you ever notice me being stupid every day, on every post, then send me a PM and tell me that it's time to get checked out! :9

Think of that job as preparing to be VP and having so say, ummm, Congress, the prez seems to have lost his marbles. What do you fellow congressmen think? :9

It's hard to call people out and you did it. That's badass.
