Re: Fallen Marine receives 2nd highest award...
Trust me, when you've been there and you see how the people are all nice nice during the day, and then you get attacked at night and you kill a bunch of them and then see their bodies the next day and it's the same people that were all nice nice and begging for stuff, you other vets know what I'm talking about. That's when you realize its all a crock of shit.
I'm reading a book right now-yeah, ok, ficticious as it may be, it's somewhat accurate in a lot of the things it talks about, just not specific incidents. That didn't come out right....... The whole premise of the book is ficticious, but the backstory events that lead up to the story are most times not. Most times, those back story events came right out of real world events, just to put you in a certain mindset for the premise of the story the book was written for.
Anyway. I'm reading a book called, "Ghost" by John Ringo. No, not the one that the movie was made about with Patrick Swayze. Read that book, then you'll know what I'm talking about. John Ringo hits the nail right on the head.

Well, it's more Vietnam, but it relates, so I recommend Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko. It's starts off with a lot of humor that gradually fades away as he starts getting more involved in actual combat. It's his autobiography actually.
A bit about him from his website:
His experience began after he enlisted in the US Navy in 1958 where he worked as a teletype operator at the Naval Air Station in Naples, Italy. He eventually worked his way into the Navy's Underwater Demolition Teams. During two tours in Vietnam serving as a Navy SEAL, Marcinko was awarded numerous medals including the Silver Star, four Bonze Stars with a Combat V, two Navy Commendation Medals, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star. Marcinko and his SEAL platoon became such a problem for the enemy that the Viet Cong posted a reward of 50,000 piasters for his death.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

They might not say it, but I will, you are DEAD FUCKING WRONG to imply any of the such.
If he is deserving of the medal, those in his platoon believe he is deserving of it, and his mother believe he is deserving of it, after her/his own sacrifice, it is worth "causing a stink". It is her fucking son! Maybe, consultant, seeing as you are not a military man, you ought to zip-it. Especially when it comes to your cockamaimie political con-fuckin-spiracy about a dead Marine and the Medal of Honor. Key word here is honor, and your statement had none whatsoever in it.
