When Inhuman Rampage came out I thought all those guys saying Dragonforce sounds the same were idiots, but honestly...

We just got them on Nu Rock Tracks, which is the stuff that's supposed to chart well in terms of loud rock. The bolded part was true. (There's a similar weekly CD for Urban tracks called Nu Urban Tracks.)

On the other hand, I did like the new Queen song. I wasn't going to get the new album, but the song made me happy. I'm not going to get the album, but that's because I'll get it at the station anyway..

The new Snow Patrol isn't bad, but well, that about sums it up.

There was plenty more good stuff, but it was not exactly Indie, just more along the lines of unknown right now.

And this is a bad thing?

Imagine what the metal world would be like if Metallica never lost Cliff Burton or kicked out Mustaine. There would likely be no black album, no Load/Reload, no Saint Anger or Death Magnetic. We'd have a refined, highly polished version of Kill Em All (which wouldn't be a bad thing, IMO). But people would still complain about them not changing their sound over so many albums just as people complain about them changing their sound today.

Sure, a lot of their songs sound the same, but that's what they do. They play fast, technical power metal, and they do it well. If they did anything else, they would cease being Dragonforce to me, just like Metallica ceased being Metallica for me after the black album.

Personally, I think people will complain about anything once they get tired of a band.

It could be that I'm just tired of them, but it seems like part of their sound is just...the same, always. A lot of bands change a little with every album and it is always met with mixed feelings. Maybe the speed/ production just dumbs it down so it really does sound the same, despite the new riffs and arrangments, but I couldn't even listen to the new single, it was painful.

It's hard to explain what I'm talking about, basically the songs are "different", new lyrics, keyboards, drums, bass, and guitar, but the songs just feel stale. I'll have to give the whole album a listen sometime soon, maybe it's just the single. who can explain the thoughts going on in my head? certainly not me.
