Hurricane Ike and mysterious teleporting dirt

Ike tried to destroy my fence and mostly failed, but partly succeeded. In one section in particular, I noticed something weird... teleporting dirt. How did this happen?

In the 3rd one in particular, you can definitely see that that dirt came from the fence hole. Some of the dirt is even still packed in cylindrical sections, retaining the shape of the hole (this is hard to see in the photos).

My only theory is that the wind pushed the fence so hard that as it bent over in the opposite direction, it "catapulted" those lumps of dirt out of the ground and to where they currently lie, and then quickly uprighted itself. Still really weird that there is a good 12 inches of clean grass between the dirt piles, and the holes they came out of.

Or maybe it's a much simpler explanation and the whole fence was down and the neighbors propped it back up, but first had to dig out the holes, and dumped the dirt in my yard... and all that happened before I returned home.

Water running through the yard carrying dirt. The posts alter the flow of the water creating a dead zone of current and the dirt deposits there. It makes a small dam that slowly collects more and more dirt.

The dirt obviously washed out from around the anchors around the fence posts. Makes sense.

That is totally weird....I don't buy water doing that.

Looks like someone would have had to pile the dirt there....

    Super weird.

Re: Hurricane Ike and mysterious teleporting dirt

We don't have many moles in texas. Water can move a lot more dirt a lot quicker than you think. The only question is how deep was the water at that spot. It looks to me that if the water was deeper than 4 inches or so, it could totally do that. No problem.

That or wild boars did it.
