Xbox 360 Ring of Death

Well I guess this is the right spot.I was going to play Call of Duty 2 but the 4 ring of death happen.

I tried the two towel for 20 min.It did not work.If you had this problem PLEASE help. :8

My friend got The Red Ring of Death on his 360. He had to ship it to Microsoft and wait for a replacement. Not sure if you can fix it any other way.

I already sent mine back like a year ago.
They give you some live points and a free game.

First you have to go and register your 360 with the http://www.xbox.com/en-US/ website.
Then go to this link: https://service.xbox.com/servicehome.aspx?scrx=1
After that it is a simple questionnaire, I believe and they will send you an email along the lines of "We have sent to you a repair box, please return your Xbox 360 console to us in this box"
When you get the box, place your 360 in it and return to Microsoft. They will repair it and send it back to you. This whole process takes about 2-3 weeks.

Ben,

My Xbox360 at my cabin red ringed about 2 months ago. I came back, called Microsoft, registered over the phone, and they sent me an email.

In the email is the shipping label. Print it. You go to a UPS store (if they have those in Alabama) and pay for the box. All shipping and everything is paid for with their shipping label. 2-3 weeks, you get a new Xbox.

It is one of the most hassle-free processes I have ever been through with any company.

Man up and do it today. Remember to remove your hard drive before you ship it.

Lastly - I think the two towels trick is to make the thing overheat. These things are failing because of heat problems. Keep that SHHHHHHHHHH

the "two towel" trick is basically...block all the air flow OUT of it, it gets WAYY hot, and the part breaks actually gets SOOO hot that the solder gets soft, and re-connects the loose connection, thus temp-fixing your RROD.
