I think religion is silly and is primarily used to explain away things we can't understand with the knowledge available at the time. We now know that fire results from friction, not from sparks coming off of Vulcan's great godly anvil, for example. What makes people so sure their god is the right answer? People 1500 years from now will probably think of our religious beliefs in the same way we think of the ancient Romans'; cute, but utterly wrong.

I edited out the part about Albert. Just for the record I wasn't posting this as my opinion, I just thought it was a interesting read if you were bored. Also, the student's arguments, in my opinion, were more to show that the professor's logic was flawed, not necessarily that what the student was saying was the absolute truth. It's basically the student refuting the professor's argument based on examples that put holes all through the professor's way of thinking.
