    Nicotine habbits

Hey all smokers. Reaching out in your place of comfort to plant a seed.

I read from time to time when folks mention they are stepping out to have a smoke. I dont mean to preach, and I comiserate with each and everyone of you, as I smoked for 15 years. I stopped smoking cigs the day of the Madrid Train bombings, and started taking commit 4mg nicotine lozenges. I still take the lozenges and still am addicted to nicotine. A nonsmoker or cold turkey person might say well thats stupid, but I dont.

Here's what I did to get myself off the cigs. I took one mint per hour all day. This made is physically impossible to smoke (I tried and puked violently). I did this until I got past the mental addiction where I wanted something in my hand. Within 2 weeks I was past that. All these sinus and breathing problems I thought I had went away in a couple of months. Food, hearing, everything got better.

I talked to my doctor and she said that although nicotine is never a good idea because it makes your heart beat faster than it needs to, commit is a HELL of a lot better that smoking tobbacco.

Think about it. Maybe try it. As with all health things, you need to talk to your doctor and not just listen to me, but I predict they will recommend anything over smoking cigs. This year I am going to try and set down the commit and be done with niccottine all together. If you aren't ready to quit, still consider converting how you intake niccotine. If you are ready to quit, then these are a good first step, I just never got around to setting them down.

Alan Carr's "The easy way to quit smoking" is what got me to quit. It's been 8 years and I don't miss them at all. The premise of the book is that there are two monsters you must overcome, one big and one small. The small one is the actual nicotine addiction. As explained in the book, nicotine's withdrawal effects are actually quite small. The real problem is the big monster which is your believing that you need cigarettes to begin with. It takes 18 days for the nicotine to leave your system. It takes one time reading the book to kill the big monster. After reading the book, I couldn't believe that I actually thought I needed that crap. The book also explains why 'quitting aids' like patches and gum actually hinder you from quitting. Remember the little monster? You gotta kill that.

I smoked with a patch and never got sick.

    But I still smoke.

I tried two years ago. But it wasn't my time.

I have never smoked, but a guy I used to work with was trying to quit. He tried the patch and gum both, and would smoke with the patch on, or while chewing the gum. I guess it is different for each person.

I also tried the patch and was able to smoke with it.

The commit was different. I could never stomach the two together.

    Give it a try.

    Re: Nicotine habbits

I smoked from the age of 12 until I was 24.

My brother came back from AIT and we went on a run together. Now I was always in good shape despite smoking, but I had been out of the game for quite a few years, and continued to smoke. So when we went running, he stomped me, hard. I felt like my lungs were burning and I realized my endurance was diminished to a shadow of what I had been able to do when I was 18-20. So I stopped cold turkey.

I wont say these other systems are stupid; I have a friend who quit by using acupuncture. If it gets you to stop or slow down...good.

I currently smoke. I said I was going to quit when we bought our new house, but I guess I'm not ready yet. The truth is, I like to smoke. I quit a couple of years ago by taking the pill Zyban. That shit worked. I was off cigs in two weeks and Zyban is mostly Wellbutrin (an antidepressent) so I felt great. I had so much energy my boss begged me to start smoking again so I would quit annoying him. The pills made you really thirsty and made cigs taste like ass. The only thing I could drink was water, and lots of it. Unfortunately I started dating a girl that smoked like a freight train so I picked up the habit again. I know I will quit, I just hope its sooner than later. Smoking's bad mmmk?

ok for all you that struggle to quit .
i no its hard , as i still smoke adn have done for hmm some 22 years +

1st thing , start smoking roll your own bugler type .
take a week -2 on that , and then try quiting .
    its easier .
its purer tobaco no chemicals as there are in filtered ones .
    craving is less .

then hit the gum and patches if needed .
but get off that filtered shit .
smoke some thing you roll your self , bugler or tip top , what ever its called .

    dont like that idea.
    smoke a cigar .
its same thing , pure tobaco no shit in it , just nicotine .
no chemical shit that filter smokes have .

try it you might find quiting , if you realy want too a lot easier .
