    What the Bowls could be

Wow the bowls are going to look like crap with OSU, Cincy, and VA Tech in BCS bowls.

Wouldn't it look better with these teams playing?

    Oklahoma 12-1 vs Florida 12-1
    Texas 11-1 vs Alabama 12-1
    USC 11-1 vs Utah 12-0
Texas Tech 11-1 vs Penn State 11-1

You have to understand that IF you win one of the major conferences, ie ACC, SEC, BIG 12, BIG 10, Big East and Pac 10, you get an automatic bid to a BCS bowl game. Look the system is shit, we all know it, but nothing will happen because it makes a shit ton of money for the schools and the networks.

not only that but you have to also remember that the bullgames other then the National Championship game, are all about money. Thats why the Fiesta most likely took OSU (After they took Texas) because they known Ohio State fans travel, which means a ton of money for the game and the city etc.

Trust me, living in tempe, and going to the Fiesta Bowl Block Party for quite awhile, Ohio State fans do travel, shit they seem to take over the whole town.

At least the Fiesta Bowl learned from when they chose Pittsburgh v. Utah

Re: What the Bowls could be

Obviously the whole Utah situation throws everything off. They should revamp the rules stating that a bcs conference champion gets an automatic bcs bowl bid if they are ranked in the top 15. The rules in place now say something like if a conference champ is ranked lower than 16 (lower as in worse) and you are ranked in the top 12 (is it?) as a non BCS conference team, then you get an automatic bid. This rule should be thrown out.

I'm not sure how Tech got left out, but I would imagine it has something to do with Ohio State's history and prestige. It may have also come down to the fact that they didnt want Tech playing the longhorns in a bowl game simply because they had already played in the regular season.

    Florida over OU
    Bama rapes Utah
Ohio State beats Texas by 6
    Va. Tech over Cinci
    USC over Penn State

Just FYI, non bcs conferences are 2-1 in bcs bowls against bcs conference teams.

    Boise State over OU W
Utah over Pitt (not really an upset in my mind) W
Hawaii got molested by Georgia L

Just a quick question in the midst of this BCS bonanza. If, by some miraculous act of God, the NCAA did institue a playoff (let's say 8 or 10 teams) for college football, do you think conference championship games should be eliminated?

as much as you know i hate them, i don't think they should be, but i think they should be set-up to have the top two teams in the conference overall playing for the championship.

as for the playoff i'd rather see a 16 team, gives you the 6 BCS conference champions (Pac-10, Big-10, SEC, ACC, Big-12, Big East), plus 8 at large bids (This year could be: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Bama, Utah, Georgia, Boise St (keep them from bitching), Ohio State)

Then you could rank the teams by their SOS, Record, etc. and decide who would get what seed. My idea is that the first round is played at the highest ranked teams stadium, with revenue being split between the teams in the game. Then the 2nd round would be played at neutral sites, then the Semi-final would be played at 2 of the BCS Bowl games stadiums, with the final being held by one of them on a rotating basis.

As for money, i would say it should be split between the teams in each game they play, after the money the cities or whoever takes out. So the farther you go, the more money you make. If you're conference teams are better then another conference, you're conference will end up with more money.

Re: What the Bowls could be

The reason I asked about eliminating the Conference Championship games is this. Had we had a playoff system, Alabama could potentially play Florida AGAIN not but a few weeks after the SEC championship. In a playoff system, a conference championship game would be beneficial only to the lower ranked team (such missouri in the Big 12 this year, assuming they had won).

If we would keep them, then I would think it only fair to have every conference have a conference championship game. I think the Pac 10 and Big 10 would be open to this, becuase the only reason they dont play conference championship games is that they dont want to risk losing their steak in the national championship game. To me, it's everyone have one, or nobody have one.

And i disagree, the Pac-10 doesn't need one because you play all other 9 teams, so the champion has beaten the best and worst of the Pac-10. As we mentioned the Big-12, ACC, and SEC can't do that because they have too many teams, so they should have the best 2 play each other at the end of the season.

Unless they dropped some of the shit teams in the conference (Baylor and Iowa State for example) and played all there conference teams.

im actually very happy with the bowl games.

utah gets its wish, TX will get rick rolled because they're stuck on their high horse. And FL vs OU will be the average beer drinkers vision of heaven on earth.
