Colorado Folks!
Xplodr! and I are looking at moving to Denver, CO here in the next few months.
It's going to be a BIG change for us.....we live in Corpus Christi, TX....sea-level, beaches, sunny....to mile-high, mountainous, 4-season's Colorado.
Any words of advice on where in Denver we should look at? From what I understand, the Westminster area is cool, but that's all I know.
We understand the cost of living is going to be higher, but it's not significantly higher, based on what I've researched on the internet.
Any areas of Denver we should stay away from? Also, what's with the Denver Tech Center? From what I understand, it's just the corporate area of Denver, and that's it...nothing too "technical" about it. Am I wrong here?
I wanna know anything and everything!

COOL i wonderd what the dtc was once its just a business and economic trading center located in Denver,(lots of hotels)
denver is very weird - there is a very distinct lower class area called "five points" - but it is right near the trendy, expensive lodo district.
I would suggest staying away from the entire 5 points area, as it has a rather high rate of crime - the area is being re-gentrified though.
I would also suggest staying of of Federal Boulevard, and Colfax - both can get slummy.
Jefferson park became a bit of a slum in the 80's, but the area is being completely redone, so you can still get cheap housing, in a nice area. It's crime rates are still somewhat high.
I'd suggest living in - lodo and Washington Park - both are very trendy, and are safe for the most part.
1 year agoIf you want to live in reasonabley quiet and safe neighbourhoods outside of the actual city then look at towns such as Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Boulder and Golden, all of these place are within 20-25 minutes of the campus.
If you want to live in a nice area close to the city then look around the following areas: Capital Hill, Washington Park and Cherry Creek.

TBH, I don't know why we chose Denver out of all the CO cities. Just one that we both kind of picked up.
However, for me, public transportation is very important, as I don't drive. From what I understand, Denver has a bad ass public transit system, so that pretty much sold me.
We've also got a cousin who lives in Denver...that should make the transition a little bit smoother.
Not to mention, they have all the sports teams!
Where in CO do you live?

Yeah, I hear a bunch fo stuff about the 16th street mall and of course, LoDo is all I read about.
I actually used to work in the bar industry and so I'm thinking that might be my first stop for a job once I move into town.
They have a water world in Denver?!! Nuts.
