Maya is the only modeling program i'm 100% sure i'm going to learn. i just started classes this summer, and have yet to start any of the actual modelling classes (blargh). next time i'm there, i'll take a look at the comps, see what other programs are installed, maybe i'll get an idea of what i'll be learning :P

well, i dl-ed the PLE version (it's free ), and, through my school... i can get maya8 unlimited for a serious reduction of price. instead of the usual 8k... about $350 . . i'll pick up a copy sooner or later.

oh, and all the school comps have it installed, so that helps .

Sounds good. Pay attention, be the best...your profession is in high demand. Considering that the video game industry grossed nearly 7 Billion dollars in 2004, which at the time was only 2 Billion less than the entire movie industry. So it kinda puts it in perspective how video games are going to impact the market in the next decade and beyond.

    Keep me updated.

I program in C++, C#, Visual Basic, and Java. But I mostly do business and database programming. I have never touched any 3D programming software before. But I did make a nifty adventure game using VB code in Microsoft Excel.

Not really, I am more of a Manger, than a programmer. I just make sure shit is working. If it isnt, I should be the LAST one that has to touch it.

I had ambitions to do programs, but while learning C++ we had to do some color matching. I am colorblind, so I was unable to finish that part. That is the hardest part for me since I am in the Networking field.

The other hard part is that my son is not colorblind. So I will have to ask him to match my clothes for me.
