Not surprising in the least. The interrogation techniques used simply aren't effective when the detainee believes going through it allows him access to heaven. They practically welcome it.

The only thing I can think of that would be effective is threatening to beat them to death with a ham hock.

We touched on this in another thread, there is an estimate of 60ish ex-gitmo prisoners going back to some level of service to terrorism. Hopefully closing Gitmo doesnt mean releasing everyone there. The global goodwill it would buy wouldnt outweigh those guys going to kill more people IMO.

To top it all off, the goodwill "bought" would be at the exepense of innocent civilians. Are there innocent prisoners in Gitmo? Probably. However the amount of innocent people lost in the long run by letting all the prisoners go far outnumbers the number of innocents inside the prison.

In a perfect world the bad guys would always go to jail and no one would be killed, but the world isn't perfect and sometimes there isn't a "good" choice, but only a choice of the lesser of two evils........

Plenty of the prisoners at Gitmo say they want their trials/executions to continue. They all want to be come martyrs, so them joining up with Al Qaeda or other militant groups is not surprising.

owww, shocker.

Its worth 200 people be released to go back to their ways in order to prevent one innocent being locked up down there with trial, or so the argument goes. In addition, one can only deduct that they are in these videos because they were locked up in GTMO and now want revenge. Anything else is cynicism.
