Hard maybe but the question is, is it true?
How anyone can look at Bush after his first term and consider him competent is beyond me. I was pro Bush when he was elected the first time but it became obvious during his first term that he was a bad choice. I'm still waiting to hear of the good things he did for us during his tenure.

Strange, reading this thread, I have seen no compelling argument from anyone (i.e. the Obama supporters) as to why this this new stimulus bill will kickstart the economy. It seems to have degraded into an "well it must be good because Obama is better than Bush" line.
This bill just seems to throw a lot of money, that doesn't exist, to a lot of social and infrastructure programs that will be paid by future taxes of those who don't get the promised tax cuts to the, so-called, middle class. Must be a good plan.
Hey, I know how I can help - I won't buy that big-screen TV at Circuit City (oops they're gone - forgot). I'll just continue rather saving any disposable income for the increased tax I'm going to pay for these programs. As our clients continue to go out of business or downsize with layoffs because their investors also seem to be saving their money for the increased taxes coming down the pike, we may need to re-visit our policy of no-lay-offs at work and probably retract our offer letters for the 10 new college grads that were going to start in the summer.
Well at least the good thing about that is that as the remaining employees start to get insecure in their employment, they may change their extravagant lifestyles and start bringing in lunch instead of supporting the local restaurants. There were way too many of them anyway, so a few going out of business is probably a good thing.
Then the brilliance of the bill comes into play - all the newly unemployed can get jobs (may pay a little less and I know at least one of the research PhD's at one of my clients wanted to get some real life field experience) in the new social / infrastructure programs.
Oops - doesn't seem to help the currently unemployed, but I am sure Obama has another trick up his sleeve to help them.

Speaking for myself, I don't know if this stimulus package will work or not. I have not and will not just give Obama a blank check. If he messes up like Bush did, then I will judge him accordingly. I will, at this time, give him the benefit of the doubt and not make predictions about supposed future missteps. I did the same for Bush when he was elected.
As far as the stimulus goes, most people don't really understand what lies at the heart of the problem. It's not about getting money to buy more crap we don't need. It's about re-instilling confidence again. Banks won't lend and businesses are cutting back b/c of a gloomy outlook. Some seem to think that the government is printing more money and that is simply not true. The government is borrowing for this through treasury auctions. There is a world of difference between the two.
And bryn0202 I will take any and every opportunity to shit on Bush, even if it's not topic related.
