From all I can tell, Steele is a good guy.
My issue with the Republicans is that they are more focused on playing games to win votes than they are focused on principles and issues. The Republican party leadership is adrift and subject to the winds of change. They are without a True North setting and that's a prime ingedient for being lost.

What happened is that a majority of Republicans voted to have Steele as their leader. The Republican party is still working well with regard to getting votes. That makes them a well-oiled fighting machine. What they haven't done is presented a plan that works. By plan I mean an explanation of how their philosophy fits into the big picture.
Bigdog persuaded me with his argument of how human omnivores are a natural fit in the ecosystem. He made sense. I want the same from my old Republican party. To me they sound like SJT and his argument for vegetarianism -- unpersuasive.
