Louisiana may not take stimulus...
http://www.wwl.com/pages/3859091.php?
Louisiana could receive over $3 billion in aid for education, health care and highways from the $787 billion economic stimulus package, but will the state want to accept it? Governor Bobby Jindal says it's possible that the state may be better off without it.
Jindal said if the stimulus bill had been presented to him when he was in Congress, he would have voted against it. Now that it has passed, Jindal says state official need to get all the facts about what's in it for Louisiana.
"We're going to look at each program, each dollar, and see what strings are attached," said Jindal.
"In earlier discussion, there were proposed requirements that could actually do more harm than good," Jindal continued, "so we're going to want to look very carefully at what conditions are attached to the dollars that are eventually provided to the states."
Anways, what do you guys think about this? I love the fact that he isn't just signing on with it because there is money involved and is actually taking the time go through each item to make sure it benefits LA in the long run. Jindal hasn't given me a reason to doubt him since he's been here.

Re: Louisiana may not take bail out...
I say good for you guys. My mayor (Lexington, Kentucky - Mayor Newberry) was on Fox this morning trying to explain why we needed to turn a normal park into a splash park and why we needed an 'art garden' from the stimulus bill.

Yes I understand that this will create some construction work when things get built, but does nothing for the long term here which I feel is more important, especially with how much is being spent.
I wish our mayor and governor would think like yours cajun, but I don't see it happening.

Wow LA is actually considering sticking it to the man. Not the first time, LA was the last state to raise the minimum drinking age under pressure of the feds. Good for them, I hope they go though with it. More states need to the federal govt and go on and show them that the states dont need them, they need the states.
