Thread: It's a bird...It's a plane...No its Vito flying off a ridge!

Yesterday i went snowtubing with my troop in Woodbury, CT. I was on my 6th run of the day and i went off the same ridge as everyone else. The first time i went off it i did a face plant right on to the tube and slid my way down on a diffrent lane.

At this ski-lodge they have lanes for everyone to go on. Diffrent levels for everyone from beginner to expert. The first time i went off it i did a face plant RIGHT onto the tube, in another lane.

The second time i went off it, i tried to break my fall by doing the Airborne roll. What you do is you stand straight up and when you hit the ground you bend your knees and then roll out of the fall and just stand up with out anything hurting. Well this happend so fast that i didn't have enough time to get my right leg out of the snow. So by the time i got it out it was too late. My right foot hit the ground and was forced upwards with a slight angle to the right. When that happend my leg was forced into my knee then i collapsed on top of my self onto the snow. I was down for about 5 mins before one of my guys goes off the same spot and drags my on a tube to see the leaders of the troop. The drop was about 10-15 feet.

The doc's took some X-Rays and since this hapend on the weekend, the radiologist took the usual weekend off. So on Monday ill get the results. From what i understand, the doc's think i fractured my ankle and sprained my foot. So i might not be on the servers for some time. Im in a cast till monday (Hopfuly) Wish me luck.

oouuuuuccchhh, ya those maneuvers always sound so much easier in theory but when the time comes to apply them... things get messy... Hope you didnt break/fracture anything!

Or sleeping... It depends if i fall down the stairs. If that happens, im screwed.

Would it indecent of me to ask if anyone was taping this, he asks hopefully with a maniacal smile on his face.

Im passing a rule that at the start and ending of every year of scouting that we have one meeting of First Aid. So far so good. And i think the Ski Lodge has the video of me flying.

Good news. It's just a really, really bad sprain . They said if i didnt slow my self down by friction with the snow and i fell another foot, it would have been broken or fractured :8. I guess drinking milk helps after all .
