Finally hit the bottom...

I recently was "released" from my job. Quick breakdown. In November my position at the casino was "removed" due to various factors. Mostly the fact we needed to cut our budget in security and it cost about 1 mil. a year to employee 8 EMT's. So I moved to Colorado to board for a few months and figure things out..

I moved back to Southaven, MS (5 minutes from Memphis) around Mid-January. I began employment at a company called Serv-Pro at the Beginning of February. My roommate also worked for this company. Around the end of February we got a new "production manager" named Jeff.. Jeff had NO experience in our industry at all. The owners were out of town for a week and Jeff was left in charge. Monday morning at our meeting we informed him the job we were going to would be done Wed afternoon or Thurs at lunch.... at the Earliest.. No way we could be done before then..

So around lunch Monday afternoon Jeff shows up at the job and starts going off on everyone. He is scolding people like dogs, cursing, fuck this, fuck that, fuck you. I am not stupid. Do your fucking job... Yeah he basically lost it.

Well my roommate stood up to Jeff. Jeff balled up his fist and started yelling so Jason walked towards him (didn't touch him at all). Jason and I were both suspended for the week. The next week we were both fired.. Jason was fired for insubordination, wreckless driving, and taking a work truck home at lunch... We had been cleared to drive vehicles home to lunch... The wreckless driving thing was crap and not investigated.... I was fired for "lack of work". There wasn't enough work to keep my employed any longer. Basically it was retaliation. They didn't like Jason so I got fucked myself....

Basically I wanted to ask.. Is there anyone in the Memphis area who knows of ANY job openings? I have spent a month looking and cannot find shit.. Getting to that desperate in life point...

Second thing.. There are a few more things that go with what happened at that job. Do we have anyone with law experience? It seems like they fucked me to get back at him as well.. Isn't retaliation illegal?

Is this a franchise? Did you talk to the owner's of the franchise about it? You always have the option of something like the EEOC or an attorney.

It is a franchise business. The owner of our specific one is related to Jeff. So they wouldn't listen to anything ANYONE had to say about him. There are 10 production employees. We ALL failed complaints against Jeff for his attitude and verbal attacks, but they ignored them all.

Well then I would get ALL 10 together and go talk to an attorney or the EEOC.

If its a right to work state, and I believe TN is, then they can pretty much let you go for just about any reason they want as long as its not based on sex, race, or religion...
You might be able to take up some action against them if you find the right lawyer, but I dont think your going to have much of a case legally speaking.

Mississippi is a right to work state if I recall... We are going to talk to an EEOC rep about it before anything else.

What kind of accounting does that company have? One of my classes is focusing a ton on internal control and having a relative of the boss in employee is usually a really bad idea. Its just begging for embezzlement. Sadly thats all I know... You could contact your coworkers and see if any of them are suspicious. You can file for an audit attempt.

The owners wife does all of the paperwork. His mother is the current CEO and his grandfather founded the company.. What do you think? haha of course they are pocketing shit..
