    The Mossberg Persuader models would be another good choice if you're leaning more towards the range and home defense side of things.

    Also, have you considered a semi-auto shotgun?

    I did look at some, but not sure if I want to go that route just yet. The 870 is probably the wiser choice, something nice and short, right next to the headboard...

    If you're looking for something short for a bed gun, check out the Mossberg 500s. They're a little bit more "tacticool", but I'm of the opinion that unless you regularly hunt with them, all shotguns should be black and evil looking. :2

    Actually I think the Marlin/Glenfield model 60 is better but there are not nearly the options as the 10/22. The model 60 does tend to be more accurate out of the box though.

    But hey, if I thought the 10/22 was crap I wouldn't own one.
