I've already called several of those that were in the Marines with me.

While I don't believe any of my buddies died due to combat, I have already thought back on the one who died swimming out to help 2 other drowning Marines. He saved 1 before he and the 2nd Marine were swept out to sea.

To me Memorial Day is somewhat bittersweet; in that yes- it is great to show gratitude and honor all the fine gentlemen and ladies who are serving, but at the same time- why is it that many people wouldn't give a second look to a group of soldiers at an airport, or think about the gifts they have enjoyed in daily life as a result of their service in armed conflict.

But anyways, I am rambling. Just be sure to call any family members you have who are/were servicemen/women. I am proud to say that I have both grandfathers, my step-father's father, and 3 uncles who have served in various wars since WWII. (but we can trace service all the way back to the civil war here in kentucky

)
