And before anyone tries to get this taken down, CNN, Fox, and a bunch of other American news outlets said that this movie was something that all Americans should see.

I'm merely pointing out that its presence on this forum should be considered acceptable based on its acceptance by mainstream American media organizations.

Re: Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West

Shit like this continues to amuse me. Pathetic hate speech by a few people with a lot of money and a strong agenda.

From the wikipedia article on this (not that there aren't a thousand backup sources):

    - Executive producer Peter Mier, an alias for an unnamed Canadian Jewish businessman, provided about 80 percent of the movie's $400,000 budget, according to Raphael Shore.[4][5] According to IRS documents obtained by the Center for Investigative Reporting, financial support for the film came from an organization named Castello Limited.[6]

    - The film has been distributed at Jewish synagogues and Christian churches in the United States.

    - The Jewish Telegraphic Agency wrote: "Producers of the documentary insist that it only targets a radical minority among Muslims; however, a number of the interviewees in the documentary are on the record as describing Islam as inherently prone to hegemony." - Meaning essentially this movie is saying all of Islam is evil.

    - Hate Hurts America,[42] a nonpartisan coalition that ran a boycott campaign against Michael Savage, launched a campaign against the film titled "Obsession with Hate," calling it a "classic work of hate propaganda, thinly disguised as a critique of radicalism, that attempts to subliminally demonize Muslims and their faith wholesale."

    - The primary source of funding and distribution of this "film" is The Clarion Fund. Here is some information about the Clarion Fund: "According to Clarion Fund's incorporation papers, it is based at the same address as Aish Hatorah, a pro-Israel organization.[5] The three founders of The Clarion Fund are or were full-time employees of Aish HaTorah.[6] Raphael Shore, the leader of The Clarion Fund is also a full-time employee of Aish HaTorah.[6] The Clarion Fund has collaborated with pro-Israel media watch organization HonestReporting in the production of its films. HonestReporting originally was a project of Aish Hatorah."

People can watch whatever they want, but it should be fair to point out the background of what they are watching and what the agenda was of the people producing it. Interspersing clips of middle eastern television with clips of the nazis while using crazy inflammatory speech is at best childish and at worst hate mongering.

Islam does not care about your freedoms, or your way of life. Most of those crazy bastards would give an arm to live here. They love pretty much everything American. They have a laundry list of complaints that can be rationally discussed but instead a lot of people would rather have everyone believe there are literally a billion people out there gearing up to kill us and take away our precious way of life. No one is going to take away your precious fucking way of life whatever that even fucking means.

Sorry I get worked up and the ignorance and quite frankly intolerance.

Re: Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West

I watched it and do believe that whoever puts up the money for something is of interest to how fair it is.

It is an interesting film but I do believe it does sensationalize certain parts, especially the intro where it doesn't list the year in which the events happen, making it seem like they all happened in the same week.

I try to be objective as possible and never take anything at face value when it comes to any media and religious and faith programs/movies/articles.

Asian if you take everything on the faith that it is absolutely true you will always be trusting someone else to make your views for you. It is like those political emails folks send out, I check them and usually find they are either totally false or skewed in a way that makes the message they want. This goes for the Obama and Bush ones.

I'm not saying that the film doesn't have any strong statements that are true just that when talking to a pastor/politician/banker/car salesman, realize that they always have something to stand for that they are going to try to convince you of.

So...after giving you some time have you found anything "totally false or skewed" yet?

Re: Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West

gotten through the first few and found something false, the quote in the first isn't a real quote. Just pointing it out since you wanted to know things found false

"This is probably the most quoted statement attributed to Burke, and an extraordinary number of variants of it exist, but all without any definite original source. These very extensively used "quotations" may be based on a paraphrase of some of Burke's ideas, but he is not known to have ever declared them in such a manner in any of his writings. It may have been adapted from these lines of Burke's in his Thoughts on the Cause of Present Discontents (1770)"
one of the biggest problems i've had with the first few videos is play on:

Pathos (Emotional) means persuading by appealing to the reader's emotions. We can look at texts ranging from classic essays to contemporary advertisements to see how pathos, emotional appeals, are used to persuade. Language choice affects the audience's emotional response, and emotional appeal can effectively be used to enhance an argument.
So far from what i'v watched i'll bet i got a different view on it then you. I see it as a point against the warring and bombing countries and more on how we need to win the information wars more to speak and show we aren't evil. Its harder to recruit someone to attack the "bad guys" when they are the ones helping you out.

interesting to is how it was distributed, supposedly to these news papers during the 2008 election (note the states)
Colorado - Boulder Daily Camera, Centennial Citizen, Colorado Springs Gazette, Denver Post, Fort Collins Coloradoan, Greeley Tribune

Iowa - Daily Nonpareil, Des Moines Register, Iowa City Press Citizen, Quad City Times, Sioux City Journal

Florida - Daily Commercial, Florida Times-Union, Ft. Lauderdale El Sentinel, Ft. Myers News Press, Miami Herald, Ocala Star Banner, Orlando Sun Sentinel, Palm Beach Post, Tampa Tribune, Tallahassee Democrat, St. Petersburg Times, South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Michigan - Detroit Free-Press, Flint Journal, Grand Rapids Press, Lansing State Journal

    Missouri - Springfield News-Leader

Nevada - Las Vegas Review-Journal/Sun, Nevada Appeal, Reno Gazette-Journal

New Hampshire - Portsmouth Herald News, Union Leader

New Mexico - Clovis News Journal, Hobbs News-Sun, Rio Rancho Observer

Ohio - Akron Beacon Journal, Canton Repository, Columbus Dispatch, Dayton Daily News, Hamilton JournalNews, Middletown Journal, Morning Journal, Springfield News-Sun, Toledo Blade, Youngstown Vindicator

North Carolina - Charlotte Observer, Raleigh News & Observer

Pennsylvania - Bucks Co. Courier Times, Erie Times-News, Morning Call, Philadelphia Inquirer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Reading Eagle, The Patriot-News

    Virginia - Sun-Gazette, Virginian-Pilot

Wisconsin - Green Bay Press-Gazette, Janesville Gazette, Journal Times, La Crosse Tribune, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

Again i saw supposedly because i have no un-bias source yet to prove it, just Huffington post (like i said, bias).

    From NPR morning edition

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=95076174

the website includes the radio broadcast from which the story is from
Just after the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, a small charity group flooded campaign battleground states with an inflammatory DVD on radical Islam. Critics say the charity is trying to influence the presidential race.

But its spokesman has said the newspaper distribution had one purpose: to make terrorism a presidential campaign issue where it counts — in the battleground states. He said Clarion did this with a half-million dollar grant from a secret donor.
more NPR (How long before Asian or Commander come say they are "bias left wing media"?)

    http://www.npr.org/blogs/secretmoney...ical_isla.html

The obvious question: Who is behind it?

And the answer: The DVD is distributed by the Clarion Fund, a nonprofit set up by the film's producer, Rabbi Raphael Shore. But not much is known about the group. It's a 501(c)(3) charity, which means it can't engage in partisan politics.
It did apparently have material on its Web site supporting John McCain, but then took it down.

Clarion has connections to Aish HaTorah, a strongly pro-Israel Jewish educational organization promoting Jewish identity and pride. Aish HaTorah has offices in Israel and the U.S.

Clarion's corporate filings in Delaware list the same address as Aish HaTorah New York. Clarion's two directors in 2006 were Shore and Jacob Fetman, who served as Aish's CFO. In 2007, the organization listed its directors as Shore, Henry Harris and Rebecca Kabat. Rabbi Harris is educational director at Aish HaTorah NY and Kabat has also worked for Aish.

Shore himself has worked for Aish HaTora. He told the Washington Times in 1992 that he "went to Israel 10 years ago to try to 'rescue' his twin brother, Ephraim, from Aish HaTorah," because he though it was a "big hoax." Instead, Shore became convinced and joined the organization's management.
Everything about this project stinks is you as me, and note i have watched at least some of the videos and learned little. But i don't trust something that seems to have ties to bias groups.

Further i hate and don't trust pathos based documentaries

As former resident of Winter Park, FL - I can assure there is no such paper as the "Orlando Sun Sentinel"

I wonder how many of these other papers are imaginary or wrongly reported.

    -1 for journalism.
