I think the car company bailouts where bad ideas, and I believe that a large part of the blame for this recession was governmental interference in the housing market. But an economy is something I can fix, a crappy socialized medical system is something that can be repealed, and 'socialism' is so laughably pathetic if it actually became a 'serious' threat to American political thought I could defeat it with my eyes closed. What I can't fix is a world that hates America for being hypocritical, condescending, and disrespectful. Concessions Obama might make to appease his base, redistributions of wealth to the poor, and damage to the economy can only hurt America; they are just weights strapped to our back, and if they were to become benchmarks for future policies then yes they would eventually crush us, but for now I say 'whatever'. The time is not yet here for Atlas to shrug, far from it. Let him hurt the economy, it won't die; it will need a detox and a diet down the line, but its needed that for a long time. The speech Obama made yesterday is the kind of rhetoric Napoleon Bonaparte would use towards the Muslim world, in fact it IS the kind of rhetoric he DID use. THE Ted approves.

Personally I think his charisma, the well defined economic policies he put forwad from the beginning, the no BS taking a different approach rather than "staying the course" attitude he takes, and the effort that earned him a JD from Harvard is what made him win.
I think if McCain had won, it would be mostly because of his race.
