Community Service

I was wondering what any of you people thought of Community service.
Does anyone Volunteer thier time for the greater good?

If so, Where?

I usually prefer Gardening and enviromental procurement.
But I really liked my time at the Animal shelter.

Denver Urban Gardens
and the dumb friends league.

Every now and then my wife and I volunteer for a day down at St. Mary's Food Bank.. We haven't done it for a while tho....

Other than that, in the past I have been court ordered to do some, but that was when I was just a dumb kid...

You get to choose a place tho, and Goodwill was not bad.

I help clean up old people's houses around town with members of my radio station.

A good friend of mine is a Special Ed. teacher at one of our public schools. I volunteer as a coach for the Special Olympics (when I'm not competing*), as well as around Christmastime, I dress up as Santa. We get the money for all of the Christmas gifts as well as hotel rooms for the Special Olympics through an annual fundraiser that we conduct. These kids run the gammut between severely mentally retarded to downs syndrome kids. They are all from rather shitty nieghborhoods, some have loving parents and others have addict parents. I have some really funny stories of some of these kids and some rather as ones as well.
