Any lawyers here?
The story: I am renting a house in Houston with an A/C unit that is too small for the house (3-ton unit, 1600 sqft house). On these hot summer afternoons temperature can get as high as 85F in certain parts of the house, but generally averages around 82F for 3 hottest hours of afternoon (3-6pm).
The owner is too much of a cheapskate to fix the situation (replace the unit). Is there any sort of law or anything that could help me push him in the right direction? I'm guessing NO, I just have to deal with it or leave (free market). But I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. And what better place to get expert legal advice than an internet forum?

Moto is a "patent lawyer" or something like that.
look for an attourney in the yellow pages...then find one that meets your requirements, and give them a call.

being its around 82 most of the day in the place i'm at, i know it can suck.
However, is it worth the time and possible costs because its mildly dis-comfortable for 3 hours? Gotta pick your battles and just, to give my opinion, doesn't seem like something worth picking a fight over.

Yeh RL I hear you, I'm probably gonna live with it for sure, if I have to. I bought a few ceiling fans, and it's bearable. Not even worth paying a lawyer for. Just wanted to satisfy my curiosity of whether or not any sort of statute exists for this, and if it does, see what the owner will do if I show it to him.
My computer room is 82F any time of day, since my i7 rig puts off so much heat. But the rest of the house gets to 75F at night which is nice.

Yeh, this summer is a probably at least 5F hotter than normal from what I can tell. So if it wasn't for that, the room temp would be 5F lower inside and all would be well.

Re: Any lawyers here?
Ok this is annoying me. What do you mean by 5C. 5 degrees Fahrenheit, or 5 degrees Centigrade? There is a VERY large difference between the two.
