    Science/medicine thread

posting this because of the science people around here and some people with knowledge of medicine so make it a combo thread.

The point of the thread? Mainly thought it be cool to hear about so things in either world from the science lovers and medicine lovers. Doesn't matter what it is about.

    I'd post something but i haven't a clue about most science/medicine shit

ahh, so more of the actual explanations of said studies and what they potentially mean.

    Re: Science/medicine thread

I'll chip in one of my own.

Just how well do we understand gravity? I know we have laws based around it, but do we actually understand what gravity is and where it comes from?

I ask because my physics teacher back in high school said that science could explain what gravity does but that we didn't actually truly understand what gravity is. He said that since it was a difficult concept for some people to grasp (and, the deeper we got into the subject, physics became more about abstract concepts and less about concrete examples), the best way of picturing it was to imagine a bed with a bowling ball sitting on it, with the depression caused by the bowling ball's weight being considered a planet's gravitational pull. That helped everyone understand how gravity affects things, but it still didn't do much to explain what gravity is or where it comes from.

But that was almost six years ago. Are any of you aware of new information since then?

Pretty bad with direct contact. I have attached a link to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on MTBE. MSDS's are required documents reporting the general hazards of chemicals.

LIGO is involved in looking into that, although I'm not too familiar with the nasty details (focusing more on particle and nano stuff at the moment). Some of my professors are though even though the About page doesn't mention LATech. We're a particle focused school though.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

I would venture to say we really don't know shit about it. How long have people been trying to come up with anti gravity without success. Funny were closer to figuring out antimatter than antigravity.
