Let's have fun and pretend that you are before Congress.

Mr. Persian, a short while ago you said that intellectual property is a problem. You said that it is the root of health care problems in Africa. Why are you suddenly in favor of protecting the intellectual property rights of musicians when it comes to broadcast radio?

This is all in fun. You're an insightful guy, Persian, and I appreciate your opinion.

Sorry white, I'd vote to make radio stations pay. Persian hit the nail on the head.

Why charged hundreds of thousands in fines for downloading music for free, when radio stations get to play them for free, with no worries about legal issues.

    Fair's fair.

so your saying one media "sharing" songs should have to pay but the other doesn't? If you believe that, then why shouldn't people downloading music have to pay royalties to the artist?

    Canadian,

You are playing God here and deciding who makes money. Will AM/FM radio stations make money if they have to pay to play like XM Radio does?

radio makes money by playing other peoples music, they should each contribute a certain percentage of what they make. so if one radio stations makes alot of money, they give a little more, but the college radio stations that don't make much if any money (don't know how that works) should pay very little if nothing (non-profit radio stations).

i don't know much about intellectual property (other than the little i've read or heard), but if it's preventing other countries from producing life saving medicines, i think thats wrong. from what i've read/heard, it's a bitch for third world countries.

if thats what the musicians want... I think it will hurt musicians in the long run. The hundreds of albums i own today are because I heard the music on radio first.

If radio stations pay to play that has no effect on you. You still listen to radio for free. Artists make money and you pay nothing. Win-win, right? Why are you against win-win?

Moto, he is saying that some smaller bands would get less pay time because a lot of smaller radio stations won't want or be able to pay for it.

That's fine. Smaller radio stations can play songs from proven bands such as Metallica, Garth Brooks, etc. People will tune in and advertisers will come to the small stations to help pay the bills, right?

Who cares about small bands. They suck. That's why they are small. Why not let capitalism take its course and let the proven money earners prevail? Metallica and Garth Brooks for all!

I'm obviously being a dick. The fun of TTP is calling me out in anonymous safety. You will not lose your seat as a politician. Call me out and tell me where my thoughts are broken.

    okie dokie

Untrue, there are PLENTY of bands that haven't hit it big, but are still fantastic band. 2 of my friends started up a Christian band, and considering there are only 2 people in, and don't have any true recording abilities, they are good.

    Everyone starts out small.
