Re: Your chance to be a politician on copyright and music
I vote nay. If anything, radio stations playing the bands music, is free advertising for the artists. I've listened to music on the radio for years, and have known hundreds of others who have as well, and when I/they hear a song they like (especially from a band they never would have known of if they hadnt been listening to the radio), they check out the band on their website(s), buy their songs off itunes, purchase band products (shirts, mugs, etc...). If anything, bands should be paying the radio stations advertisement fees.
And just because the courts are fining folks money for music downloaded, doesnt mean we just charge everyone to screw everyone equally. I say we make file sharing legal.
Another note, is myspace music profiles. Artist voluntarily put there songs on their own myspace for FREE listening pleasure, plus allow myspace users to add their songs to their own profile. Music is being played on the computer, from a playlist, just like downloaded music. So long as the music isnt re-distribute for commercial purposes, the artist file no suits. What's the difference with file sharing? The music on personal myspace profiles can be added by friends of the individual, thus having the effect of "redistribution". Where's the outrage there? There isn't any because there is nothing wrong with it.
Artist dont care that their music is being "distributed" among myspace users for their personal profile, especially considering the artists are the ones who put out the music with the option to add the songs to a personal profile. These same artist now join the copyright infringement bandwaggon, and want to take citizens to the cleaners for way more money than their music is worth. And for what? For doing the same thing myspace users are doing. Seems to me artists want their cake and want to eat it too. Doesnt work that way in this country.

I call bullshit. I wouldn't listen to Christian shit if the radio station payed me.
