    A little gun pr0n, since it's been a while...

Finally got all the stuff put together for my long-slide .45... My "Bump in the Night" gun. (The "Holy Crap, that was definitely a window breaking" gun is much bigger )

LOL at your descriptions of the weapons.
    What is a " long-slide" ?
Is it better than the regular slide ?

    r

LOL at you not knowing guns outside of what you see in games.

Beautiful piece there, Rottn..can't tell from the pics, but is it a glock or what?

Also, the extended barrel, is that a thread cover for a supressor

me, personally, I don't want anything that penetrates as well as a .45 for a "bump in the night" gun....for me, I'd rather have the taurus judge with 2 .410's and THEN 3 .45's....somehow, I'd feel ALOT more comfortable if my first panicked shots would have trouble getting through drywall, but still wouldn't have a problem pickin someone up and setting them down on their ass :-P
and for my "holy shit I heard a window smash" I'd have my mossberg marine....nothing like the sound of that slide pushing a shell into the chamber to send some baddie back through the glass he just came through :-P

well, as the name in no way alludes to, a "long slide" has a "long slide".

In that picture, all 3 are Kimber .45 semi-auto pistols...notice they all are different lenths...the bottom one is a sub-compact with a 3" barrel....the top one is a compact with a 4" barrel...and the middle one is a full-size 5" barrel, or as some call it, a "long slide" because the "slide" is "longer"

oh, and sorry if I sounded like an ass in my first post...I misunderstood what you said and thought you were laughing at the fact he called it a long slide, and not the "bump in the night" and such :-P my bad.....still recovering from last night and wasn't fully coherent >_<

If the shoe fits, I really don't know much more about guns than the game.
Well maybe a lil more but I don't own guns and I thought the slide was the top half of an automatic and a " long slide" was some kind of modification.
The 410 shotgun shell in a pistol is nice though.

LOL... Yes, a "long slide" has a longer slide than stock. This pistol started life as a Glock 21SF, and now has Lone Wolf Distributor's "tactical" length slide. This lets a 6" barrel poke out enough to be threaded, for, well, whatever accessory you prefer... In this case, an AAC supressor that I'm saving up for. The M6x is a nice combo light & laser unit, although I'm not sure the laser is really that useful.

The nice thing about the pistol is that I turn on the flashlight and poke around with the weapon kept low. Fact is, the odds are very good that any odd noises I hear out in my house at night are a cat knocking something over, or a 4-year-old going to the bathroom/getting water. Neither contingency requires serious firepower.

Anyway, you can also get a slide sized for a 6" barrel. This is what my G20SF has, but then there's no room left for threads. (The longest "standard" handgun barrels available are 6". You can get longer, but then the vendor has to start with a longer blank, which costs considerably more.) The .45 ACP is a nice round to supress, though, because even a big slow (i.e. sub-sonic) 230 grain punkin' balls have a good record. Supressing a 10mm is like, well... silly.

And 2 points to Spaz on the "code red" weapon- Mine's a Mossberg 590 mariner as well. :9 That or the upstairs M4gery... I'm also working on a 6.8 SPC carbine, but I think the Mariner still wins for serious "glass breakage" duty, since I haven't done anything to make enemies of that many dudes who would come after me at once... So the wifey could hole up in the bedroom with the carbine as back-up. I suppose I should teach her how to handle it one of these days... Until then, I guess it's just an extra toy.
