I believe these bills are written by legislators based on input from various committees, public hearing, letters from constituents and and direction from the president etc. But ultimately, the legislators write them. And many will read a 2000 page document. That is really not so big when you consider how the formatting works...lots of line item lists and small paragraphs separated by spaces. You oughtta see some of the EIA and EIS I have seen... they take up boxes not binders. If you leave gaps in rules people exploit them.

The picture you paint above is hyperbole, plain and simple.

And will you all please stop calling it "universal healthcare" please; unfortunately, it does not even come close. I for one am in support of pure public option.

Speaking of hyperbole, I love how Stewart tells it like it is and all she can say is "well you're wrong" while he is reading from the bill and citing facts:

Why should we stop calling it universal health care when thats what the president calls it? UHC is the tagline he gave it, Im sure the bill will fall well short of that, but we have to call it something dont we?

If the US changes the composition of its demand away from consumption and government spending towards net exports, that will probably affect the composition of demand in Canada too, since exports represent about 40% of Canadian demand, and the US represents around 80% of our exports.

    Canada's stalled economy
The decline of America's car industry has hurt the Canadian economy too. Revival depends on making it easier to cross the border—or on seeking markets elsewhere

I will say you guys didn't feel it close to what we did. You also did a much better job reacting to it than we did. Downside to us going down we take the world with us. Fucked up isn't it.

    Falling apart? Far from it.
    Political differences? Yes, many.
Just because some false markets have fallen is no reason for me to be concerned.
I disagree with alot of things, socialism being one of them. My "bullshit rant" was a few sentences showing my dislike of redistribution(socialism) I want free market. I see first hand what medicare does. It is abused, and we want more of this?
I work hard everyday and there are people that I work with that use the system. We work the same for the same money, but they get $3000 more than they paid in on there income tax return and I get $100. I dont take govt handouts. I run my life legit and dont take advantage of things. I have seen first hand how people use loop holes in the system to get federal aid, its bullshit. I work for what I own, and if I cant afford it I dont get it.

How much people over react to the concept of healthcare reform astounds me. People keep talking about a bill as if there is only one bill and it is being voted on right now. This whole thing is still in the process of being discussed and considerations are being taken. Don't worry, when all is said and done you will still be able to stick with your for-profit insurance company and pay them an exorbitant monthly fee only to be denied treatment if you ever have a serious long-term medical problem because your staying alive won't turn a profit for them.

    Re: Those damn Insurance Companies!!

Wrong, no kidding that the elected clowns are suppose to be writing these bills but they arent. The whitehouse and many of these other people are just getting into office, many people are "just figuring out where the bathroom is" let alone have the cohesion and knowledege necessary to write a many thousand page bill.

Yeah i know they come up with the big ideas, but its all the little payoff, coat tail bullshit, that they dont write. And so many people like Acorn are getting these things to the lawmakers people to insert into bills, without anyone even freaking reading it, or if they do, you cant understand it. The stuff that takes a 7 trillion budget defecit estimate by the White House and congress and makes it come out over 9 TRILLION dollars like the CBO estimated in the get go. Well you get all the special interest groups to tag stuff on. Is this a standard practice in Washington? Yes. In no way has there ever been the pouring on and shoving through of so many changes and bills taking advantage of their majority in such a perverted way. I wouldnt mind health care reform, hell I am for sure in favor of TORT reform, I am just scared as hell of "Obama and the Bankrupters" and what they will throw in with it, all the gotchas and small tax bumps and spreading of wealth that will only come out in the details long after this baby gets rail roaded through Washington into laws.

That is why we are up in arms about HEALTH CARE ? SPEND SPEND SPEND SPEND.... ALL SENSIBLE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HAS TO COME NEXT, FUCK WAKE UP..... TAX TAX TAX TAX!!! Dont be one of those naive bandwagoners, be ready its coming if all of his little plans no one has read or understands comes through!! And yeah its in the details, up in arms? Wait til they sneak public funding in for ABORTION, putting blood on all of our hands and you will see what the big deal is about health care. THis country will go crazy!!

Oh ya and Trigger I have had two rotator cuff surgeries in last six months and hadnt been able to do a damn thing, it wont be long before im hitting it again my friend, not so much lifting just running again situps pushups pullups kinda stuff.
