Take time to protect your Children
Fellow TTPers,
I am not one that usually brings hot topics, contrivorsial matters, news or things of this nature to your attention. Yesterday something pulled at my heart strings and made me think. As a parent, an aunt and as a sister I worry for the safety of the children around me. I don't always watch Oprah and I am sure most of you don't but this episode I couldn't turn off. This episode was about missing Children and had parents talking about how their child was taken from them. One parent watched her child turn the corner on her scooter to go to a friends house and never saw her again. One family actually watch their child as they waited at the bus stop when a man and woman pulled up and grabbed their child. Most abductions are within a mile of the child's home. Please take the time to read/watch this and do what you think is best. I tried to give you all the info you need.

I am sure that most of you have heard of John Walsh. He was the anchor of Americas Most wanted. He helped pass The PROTECT Our Children Act on September 15, 2008 and even though it has passed it has yet to be funded.
"However, recent news reports reveal that most states will not be in compliance with the law by the upcoming deadline. If senators and state representatives don’t comply with and fully fund the act, it will run out." (statement from)
I ask you what is more important to you giving money to bail out the likes of GM among other companies or protecting your children, cousins, nieces and nephews. Think about it .. You send them off to school and you get a call that they never made there or they go the their friends house just around the corner and never come home.
Here is what needs to be done
Take the time to check your area to see if there are any sex offenders near you or your family

If nothing else help educate the children around you and please don't be like most of these family and think "this could never happen to me".
Thank you all

Re: Take time to protect your Children
I'm sorry, that was rude of me. I didn't mean to make it seem like I didn't care, just saying what I think of sex offenders (mostly). I need to read more on this act and see if I agree with it first, but if it seems good, I would certainly support protecting children.
