Re: White House advisers say Fox News is not news
Muqtar - Thanks for the warm welcome! It's always good to have a nice civil debate.
Regarding whether it's sour grapes or the opinion heads they have on there causing the Obama white house to speak out on FOX, I posited that neither of those cover it properly. My belief, backed up by what I've seen from FOX, Obama, and various other discussions RE: FOXNews, is that it's due to FOX News spending years making intellectually dishonest arguments, hiding certain facts while ridiculously overblowing others, constantly and systematically skewing key stories far past what could conceivably be called ignorance of proper journalism and what delves into outright charlatanry. There are intellectually honest conservative-biased news outlets out there. FOXNews is not one of them. There are honest pundits with conservative views who don't like Obama out there. FOXNews pundits in the tradition of Hannity and Beck are not honest. They are demagogues who get paid to be intellectually DIShonest. They conservative versions of Keith Olbermann (another demagogue) and one should pay them equivalent respect. And if you guys tell me you like Keith Olbermann I will probably fall out of my chair so I'd better put some pillows down there now just in case.
Moveon.org is definitely a liberal action group. They're a far, far cry from a major news network, and in a different league since their political arm is an actual PAC. If they ever start blatantly obscuring the truth with sophistry and then morph into a news network then we can start a thread about them, but they're neither as big or as bad as FOX at the present time.
You also key in on the comic relief I threw in at the end of my post while mostly ignoring the non-joke parts. For a proper argument it's better to focus on the actual response instead of keying in some little joke at the end (although of course this is a favorite tactic of FOXnews). Also, It's not out of the Al Gore playbook, it's out of the movie Fight Club, where Tyler Durden tells Jack to tell Marla "This conversation... IS OVER!" In this case, of course, my conservative responders are Marla, I am Ed Norton, Barack Obama is Tyler Durden, and Project Mayhem is ACORN. I though it was funny.

Re: White House advisers say Fox News is not news
The latest is that the treasury dept attempted to prevent Fox news from interviewing the Obama pay czar. The other pool of reporters refused to proceed with the interview unless fox was included.
LOL. Even left leaning media outlets are shaking their heads.
I'm telling you, this is a failed strategy soup to nuts.

Re: White House advisers say Fox News is not news
I dug around for some articles that weren't copy-and-paste from FOXNews and got this
"TPMDC dug into it, and here's what happened.
Feinberg did a pen and pad with reporters to brief them on cutting executive compensation. TV correspondents, as they do with everything, asked to get the comments on camera. Treasury officials agreed and made a list of the networks who asked (Fox was not among them).
But logistically, all of the cameras could not get set up in time or with ease for the Feinberg interview, so they opted for a round robin where the networks use one pool camera. Treasury called the White House pool crew and gave them the list of the networks who'd asked for the interview.
The network pool crew noticed Fox wasn't on the list, was told that they hadn't asked and the crew said they needed to be included. Treasury called the White House and asked top Obama adviser Anita Dunn. Dunn said yes and Fox's Major Garrett was among the correspondents to interview Feinberg last night.
Simple as that, we're told, and the networks don't want to be seen as heroes for Fox.
TPMDC spoke with a network bureau chief this afternoon familiar with the situation who was surprised that Fox was portraying the news as networks coming to its rescue.
"If any member had been excluded it would have been same thing, it has nothing to do with Fox or the White House or the substance of the issues," the bureau chief said. "It's all for one and one for all."
A Treasury spokesperson added: "There was no plot to exclude Fox News, and they had the same interview that their competitors did. Much ado about absolutely nothing."

I get this from the AP which is closer to FOX's version, but paints it more as a "FOX forgot to request an interview so we're going to tweak them a little bit over it" kind of thing.
The White House said it had received requests from TV networks to speak to Feinberg and had asked that the interviews be recorded through the networks' pool arrangement. The pool is set up and paid for by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and Fox to save time and resources, so a single camera crew can record interviews done by separate network correspondents.
The White House said Fox had not asked for an interview and the White House sent its request for a pool reporter without including Fox. Bureau chiefs held a quick conference call and decided that their networks would not do the interviews unless Fox was given the opportunity, said a network executive who spoke on condition of anonymity because the person did not wish to be a part of the White House-Fox tiff.
After this decision was relayed, the White House quickly agreed to include Fox, the person said Friday.
Seems overblown at the very least, but we'll see if any new info comes out. Although it'd be nice if we could have continued the debate instead of dropping it/harping on minor side issues.Join the TPG Folding @ home team: http://www.teamplayergaming.com/pc-h...ding-team.html

Re: White House advisers say Fox News is not news
So all I read was some dithering that alludes to fox 'forgetting' to request an interview, all the other pool reporters 'remembering' to request an interview, some treasury dept (obama administration) comment downplaying it, some liberal hyperbole from forvezer (shocker), and a me - too'esque empty calorie comment from hawq.
one would need to be a pool reporter or familiar with protocol to be precise on what exactly went down. All the same, the obama administration has made the decision to declare war on fox news and as a result can expect to be scrutinized on its behavior as a result.
Seeing an interview with an editor of the very liberal baltimore sun deriding the treasury dept action, combined with the multiple adminstration officials comments declaring fox is not a news outlet, combined with the moveon.org action item urging you to contact your representative and tell them to boycott fox news, etc ,etc,
Why would it be hard to believe? Unless of course it offends your faith in the messiah?
