BTW, I don't see this as a "government program" spending money..... It is giving what is due.

Nope, it will be neccessary to stablize units just prior to deployments...

and they have not stopped IRR call-ups as well...

I was on a mob list last summer before I joined the reserves and I have had no less than 3-4 others recalled as well. All of them infantry.

Wow this thread derailed fast. Back on track, I'm much much happier to pay soldier's who are fighting for us overseas than pay for any kind of welfare.

But weren't you one of the people that argued the police, fire dept and military are all socialist, so wouldn't that make paying them, for any reason, part of a "welfare" program ?

    How about this ?
The Congress, who works so hard for us not reading bills and all, gives up their next raise, hell gives back their last raise and gives the money to the troops in theater, regardless of their enlistment status.
Maybe we could cut a few dollars out of TARP for them too, since we haven't spent all that money.
Hell, there is still a lot of stimulus money left, give all of that to troops too.
They will spend it and stimulate the economy and at the same time we all feel that the money is going to somebody who deserves it.

Re: Troops to be Compensated for 'Stop Loss'

Police and Fire and military are, indeed socialist. But what does that have to do with anything?

This isn't paying someone for doing nothing or because they have nothing. This is paying someone about $14 per day, for every day that their active duty contract was involuntarily extended. So this is a far cry from a "welfare program", there were services rendered for this money. As far as the other bullshit you tried to inject, like the TARP money thing....... HAHAHAHAHA!!!one!!!!!!111!!!!!!!

I agree. A similar thing happened to my unit. Congress pass an amendment to the 2007 Defense Appropriations bill specifically authorizing the reimbursement of money spent by the soldiers and families of the 172nd SBCT in fair anticipation of our return which was lost as a result of our extension.

I'm just busting your lil atrophied balls, I want the troops to get the money and I am serious that I think some of the stimulus money should go to them.
Anecdotal evidence but most of the married guys I knew back in the late 80's had second jobs to supplement Army pay so it must be even worse today.
Maybe the money that was supposed to go to ACORN....
How about that as a choice....ACORN or the troops .....which would you pick HB ?
Yer beloved commie agitators or your comrades in arms ?

Nah. Neither. I say we just take it away from the crooks that profit so much from war like KBR and Halliburton. And while we're at it, how about taking the money away from the other clowns that profit from wrapping themselves in the flag, Faux News, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly and Murdoch........... You know, the guys you quote verbatim from constantly. So what do you think? Your choice, real patriots or conniving pieces of shit?
