Meh I never take Flu shots, I always get the flu, lay in bed for two or three days and go back to life. Its just not a big deal for me at this time.

Re: Dystonia from a Flu Shot?

I never get the flu, but I usually get one bad cold a year. No fever or anything, just blehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. If they made a shot for that, bring it on! I think work might be doing flu shots cheap, though, so I need to get in on that. I'll let you all know if it turns me into a zombie or something (kidding, flu shots don't give you weird diseases, they keep America healthier, get one today).

I have no plans to ever get a flu shot. My mom, a 20+ year nurse never gets one, neither will I.

it's basically a shot in the dark. The influenza strains are consistently evolving, so the picks of the litter included in the vaccine, may not even be the strain you get exposed to.

And you can request the vaccines without the thimerosal, i know my father specifically orders all his flu vaccines to be preservative free. He actually just sent his swine flu vaccines back because they sent him the ones with preservatives (thimerosal). Most offices carry both.

What’s in the Seasonal Flu Vaccine?

The flu strains selected are cultivated in chick embryos for several weeks before being inactivated with formaldehyde, which is a known cancer-causing agent. Then they’re preserved with thimerosal, which is 49 percent mercury by weight.

Even many health care professionals are confused about this and are not aware that the preservative thimerosal is mercury. As a quick side note, one of my chief writers told me that, “the doctor’s office told me the vaccine does not contain mercury, just something called thimerosal.”

Please, don’t be fooled by this incredible ignorance. If you have carefully studied this issue there is a great possibility you may know more than your physician about this topic. Don’t back down if they tell you something you otherwise know to be true.

According to the CDC, the majority of flu vaccines contain thimerosal. Some contain as much as 25 mcg of mercury per dose. This means that it may contain more than 250 times the Environmental Protection Agency’s safety limit for mercury.

By now, most people are well aware that children and fetuses are most at risk of damage from this neurotoxin, as their brains are still developing. Yet the CDC still recommends that children over 6 months, and pregnant women, receive the flu vaccine each year.

In addition to mercury, flu vaccines also contain other toxic or hazardous ingredients like:

Aluminum -- a neurotoxin that has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease

    Triton X-100 -- a detergent

    Phenol (carbolic acid)

    Ethylene glycol (antifreeze)

    Betapropiolactone - a disinfectant

Nonoxynol - used to kill or stop growth of STDs

    Octoxinol 9 - a vaginal spermicide

    Sodium phosphate

    Use of misleading language
-Creating scientific-sounding terms in order to add weight to claims and persuade non-experts to believe statements that may be false or meaningless. For example, a long-standing hoax refers to water as dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) and describes it as the main constituent in most poisonous solutions to show how easily the general public can be misled.
-Using established terms in idiosyncratic ways, thereby demonstrating unfamiliarity with mainstream work in the discipline.
So how does that explain the presence of Aluminum, Phenol, Ethylene Glycol, Octoxinol9...... Are they scientific terms for other elements?

Also it has been linked to some serious side effects. Cant think of the name but the secretary at work was tested for it, some kind of nerve problem directly related to flu shot.

I can get both flu shots but I am not going to. Take my chances.
Normally, about one person per 100,000 people per year will develop Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), an illness characterized by fever, nerve damage, and muscle weakness. In 1976, vaccination with the swine flu vaccine was associated with getting GBS. Several studies have been done to evaluate if other flu vaccines since 1976 were associated with GBS. Only one of the studies showed an association. That study suggested that one person out of 1 million vaccinated persons may be at risk of GBS associated with the vaccine.

yeah thats the one, they ruled it out but she had similar signs and symptoms. They didnt say how rare it was but said it was because she had gotten the flu shot.
