Re: Crazy fast RC Airplane
How do you not lose that thing. You have to have an eagle eye I suppose. I've only tried one plane, an electric 4 channel, that was difficult enough imo. I ended up spashing through swampy grass on landing destroying the most expensive part on the plane.
Growing up my brother had a boat and I had a Tamiya Grasshopper. Not long after that we got ourselves a USA-1 monster truck. A friend of mine had the hornet, we used to race. He used to win.
Most recently (last 5 years) I bought a Duratrax Evader and a Traxxas E-maxx. I have no time for them..... I was gonna sup up the E-maxx with frictionless motors and such but everytime I go to the hobby store, things change so much that I will need new batteries, new charger, new speed control, pretty much a new RC truck... The technology changes too often. The only extras my e-maxx has now are good oil shocks, undercarrage plate, 7-cell batteries. I can't seem to keep up. I'm thinking of just selling everything.

Re: Crazy fast RC Airplane
The turbine engine jets are indeed much harder to fly. The engines alone start off in the $2500 range. That's almost my whole fleet. All my planes run Saito 4 strokes, I have a couple warbirds, a pattern plane and am contemplating on getting another warbird, one of my favorite warbirds, the AD-1 Skyraider (by Ziroli, of course).
The jets are extremely difficult to fly and not for the faint of heart. If you don't have years of building AND flying experience under your belt, just enjoy watching them. They are even extremely difficult to watch at air shows, but breathtaking. I'd love to see or hear of more TTP'ers doing the R/C thing...maybe one day we could have a meet and greet airshow...that'd be ..nice.

Re: Crazy fast RC Airplane
Well as for the rc jet pretty cool. I could never fly one myself. I cant even play a round of golf without lossing a half a dozen balls. They get airborne and i loss track. That thing must have one hell of a range on it.
The chopper i have to admit i thought the video was kind of stupid but i've had planes and i have a chopper. The choppers are way harder to fly then the planes are. I've had mine for 3 years now i guess and it still hits the ground every once in while harder than i would like. Then you have your days wheres it windy out and it's like a whole new toy. Nothing acts the same.
