Top 50 films of the decade
This should stir some good discussion, based on the reaction to the similar TV list I posted recently.
http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-b...the-00s,35931/
I've seen 33 out of the 50. Sounds like I have some work to do.
Very, VERY happy that my #1 is their #1. Here is what I think is missing from the list, although granted this list is weighted toward the latter half of the decade as it's stuff that sticks out more freshly in my mind, so it might not all truly deserve to be there.
Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Eastern Promises
Miami Vice
The Departed
The Wrestler
Moon
Requiem for a Dream
Once
Little Miss Sunshine
Here are my favs from their list:
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (my #1 also)
3. There Will Be Blood
4. No Country For Old Men
7. Kill Bill Vol. 1
9. The New World (a lot of people hate this... suck it)
12. Before Sunset
20. The Squid and the Whale (maybe not top list material for me, but I liked it)
30. WALL-E (WAY up there for me)
33. Punch Drunk Love (suck it, haters, on this one too)
37. A History of Violence
40. City of God
43. Brokeback Mountain (watched this for the first time last night, lived up to and surpassed the hype)
46. Adaptation
50. Oldboy

Re: Top 50 films of the decade
Rofl, that list sucks ass balls. No country for old men wasnt "THAT" good of a movie. I mean it was good, but to say top5 of the decade?
Like you said, where is the departed? Where is Inglourious Bastards?
Where the fuck is Gran Torino? If you do not think that is in the top 3 best Eastwood movies, you are retarded.

Re: Top 50 films of the decade
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter is one of the best foreign films I have seen, period.
The Incredibles was another favorite with my kids, though it seems like they had issues afterwards with pixar and there will be no sequel.
Royal Tenenbaums and Lord of the Rings trilogy was also good, but I found that Kill Bill lacked substance and was all action, which doesn't do it for me anymore.

Meh, the list was ok...I'm glad to see Momento was so high up there. That's how you tell a story. One thing I wonder is where's American Gangster? Grand Torino shoulda been up there too. A few others you guys listed too. I loved Children of Men, how was that beaten by The New World? And I didn't see Casino Royal in there either. I thought they did a good job with that.
