10-year-old boy accused of threatening officers during call to foster home
PUEBLO, Colo. - Colorado sheriff's deputies shocked an "out of control" 10-year-old child with a Taser and arrested him.
Pueblo Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Teschner said Wednesday that the boy was not hurt when deputies took action Monday after arriving at his foster home, where he was reportedly destroying property.
Teschner says deputies were justified in their use of force. The deputies say the youth threatened them with a pipe and a stick, and threw a piece of wood at them.
"This lad, we have a long history of (him) running away. I don't know what his entire psychological profile is, but obviously he has emotional distress," Teschner told The Pueblo Chieftan.
I think a full grown man behind the uniform can handle some punk 10 year old with a pipe rather than taze the shit out of him.
What are the effects of being shocked at such a young age?
I made the poll so everyone and their hub can be happy

Re: Deputies use Taser on ‘out of control’ child
There's a good chance that the boy would have gotten more hurt being wrestled to the ground by a large man, than being shocked. The alternatives would be shooting the boy, wrestling him, pepper spraying him, or striking him with a baton. I think perhaps they should have just contained the situation more and allowed him to cool off. All in all I think it was a poor option out of a list of poor options.
I voted no, but I meant to vote yes. Can you re-vote or?

Re: Deputies use Taser on ‘out of control’ child
I would like to hear the whole story before I could justify the use of force. The officer could be within his right to use less than lethal force on the child if the child is or could cause harm to themselves or other parties. Then again they may have been able to use some other means of force to subdue the subject. We don't know....we weren't there when it went down. I will say though if he was coming at them with sticks/pipes/ what ever, the police are justified to use 1 step of force higher than what is being exibited on them. Ie. depending on the situation (child/man with a pipe or board would justify officers using less than leathal force or even deadly force, depending on the situation). Like I said we don't know exactly what happend. Ill look further into it!

I assume the police used good judgement, especially when dealing with a child... I bet the little fucker deserved it. When you gotta call the cops because of a 10 y/o, he's got some serious emotional issues to deal with...
Have you seen kids these days? Chicks with insane milkwagons, boys who look like they were spoon fed steroids... shit is nuts...

Taze em all!! in fact, they should be standard issue to all public school teachers. If that were my boy I'd do it myself if the cops would allow it.
Gone are the good ole days when the woodworking class in High School would make a new paddle for the school diciplinarian every year.
Of course, in some cases, it should be the parents that are publicly beaten with a stick.
Maybe this will "shock" the boy into better behaviour, if not, well, somebody needs to live in our prisons.
all in fun guys, don't light the torches

Re: Deputies use Taser on ‘out of control’ child
I like what Ag had to say but.....
We all know no matter what the situation a Cop can never admit he was in the wrong etc etc, it just makes things look bad.
We all know no matter what the victim will state they were violated etc etc.
Nothing new we all know this.
Here is my take the cops should have not been called in the first place. Yes, it was foster parents but even then they do not need to spare the rod.
If it was my son I would have grabbed that pipe out his hands and give him a red ass.
Does that mean beat kids all the time? Fuck no (I say this because some of you lunatics love to play extreme's )
That is the problem now days. Parents are slacking and afraid to discipline their kids because CPS might freak out. As long as there is no blood or bruises do not spare the rod.
I just cannot imagine my son when he is 10 being tazered by some cop. To see a young boy flopping around on the floor while being shocked would prolly drive me to that point of seeing red.
How much damage could a 10 year old boy swinging a pipe do to a grown man?
They are trained in simple hand to hand combat so taking the kid down should be no problem at all.
